I'm going to start out by saying that 2 years ago I switched to DishNetwork's Silver HD Package. I did this to mainly get all the reginal sports networks, because I am a big fan of Wisconsin Badger Hockey. I was extremely happy with the amount of HD Programming available when I switched. I think that Direct TV has now caught up, but because of the situation that I am going to explain below, I will probably be dropping Dish Network and switching to Direct TV.

Living in Wisconsin, Dish network was sending us the Fox Sports Network North (FSN-North) feed out of Minnesota. At the time, this was fine, becuase there was no FSN-North in Wisconsin. About 18 months ago, FSN-Wisconsin started broadcasting. The would show Brewer, Buck, and various Wisconsin games.

Dish Network did NOT change the FSN-North feed to the new Wisconsin one. So the FSN Channel would still display Timberwolves/Twins/Minnesota games. However, when there would be a conflict, Dish network would play the Wisconsin feed on an "alternate" channel.

I looked at the guide for a 1/25/08 Wisconsin-Alaska Anchorage game that was supposed to be broadcast by FSN-Wisconsin. Luckily it showed up in the guide on a sports alternate channel. I went to set my DVR and got an error message. I called Customer Service and they said that I just needed to create a manual timer (manually enter the date/channel/time, instead of just clicking on the program in the guide). I did this and it seemed to work ok.

I went to watch the game, and my program was not recording. Also, when I tried to tune to the channel it told me that the program was not available.

After about an hour on the phone, with 4 different people (3 of them managers) in two different contintents, it was determined that the people that enter program information entered it correctly. I could live with this if it wasn't the sole reason that I upgraded my package, and the fact that this has happened more than once this season already.

They didn't offer any way to make it right (temporarily reduced rate) or even an apology.
