Dish network —

Be very, very careful about who you call to come set up your Dish Network.  There are way too many scammers out there.  My husband called a company and they charged us $80 in fees that Dish Network claims shouldn't have been charged and they're not going to help us get those fees back.  The company refuses to return our calls.

Their pricing is very confusing.  Everything is itemized and when you first sign up, they offer a lot of discounts.  Each discount is itemized.  For example, you can sign up for Dish Network HD and get it at this price for 6 months.  What they don't tell you is that you also have to have this service to get the HD and they charge you each month if you don't hook up phone lines to your receivers.  Personally I thought the installers would hook up the phone lines, but Dish told me that legally they're not allowed to but they were supposed to tell US to do it.  They didn't.  We only have a phone line for one of the boxes, not both so we get charged $5 a month because we don't have it hooked up to the phone line.  That's crazy.  Today I received an email from Dish stating we're being charged for both receivers not being hooked up to a phone line, even though our printed statement charges for one receiver.

The fees and the charges are so confusing and so crazy that you end up not even knowing what you do have and what you don't have and what you're paying for and what you're not paying for.

I miss a lot of the features from Comcast, such as OnDemand.  With Comcast, there was a list of free movies and tv programs to watch whenever you wanted.  Dish doesn't have this.  Dish does have pay per view movies, at a higher cost than Comcast.  Dish has a weather channel feature but it's not as detailed and you have to "download" this information every time you want to access it.

Right now we have two dual receivers for a total of four tvs.  It's very nice that all four tvs all get the same channels.  With Comcast, we had to have basic cable and digital cable.  We only had digital cable on 2 tvs so not all the tvs got the same channels.  With Comcast, our cable used to go out at least twice a month.  We haven't had any service interruptions with Dish.
