I've been a DISH Network customer for almost a decade now and things have changed quite a bit over time. They used to be a wonderful company with great customer service but that's gone to shit over the past few years with their use of out sourcing to countries such as India with uncooperative and incompetent idiots who read steps from a book, even if you are tech savvy and know what you are talking about. I'm more familiar with their equipment and trouble shooting than 95% of their customer service now a days. Their Programming packaging is Horrible, as an example I am a BIG Hockey fan and although I had their 200 Channel package which costs $48/month outside of their other nickel and dime costs like $6 for local channels, $6 DVR Service fee, and $5 additional receiver fees I still did NOT receive Versus. So I have to pay an additional $10 to upgrade to their 250 Channel package just to get VERSUS. Then I find out that that package does NOT include NHL Network which has swindled a bunch of good games away from Versus, and in order to get that Channel you have to purchase the EVERYTHING package which is another $25-$30 a month or you have to buy their bogus Multi-Sports packages for $6/month which for some reason has NHL Network but does NOT have Versus.
The Multi-Sports Package is bullshit anyways as even though you get ALL the Fox Sports channels you can NEVER watch any games as they are always blacked out, except for your local Fox Station so paying the $6 is a rip off but at least it would give you NHL channel during Playoff times and if you like to listen to the same commentary from 20 different view points you can but really who does that or has the time to do that?
I wish the Government would step in and allow for ala carte packaging of channels. Of the 200 Channels I had I barely watch 30 of them if that but I'm forced to pay for crap I never watch nor have any interest in, so horrible programming continues to exist rather than allowing the consumers to choose what survives and what gets cancelled. I could go on and on about problems I've had with DISH Network, and the only thing that keeps me with them today is their Guide Feature being soooo much more friendly than Direct TV or UVerse as you get a decently viewable Picture frame while going through the Guide of Channels and additionally can use their Browse feature which keeps a Full Screen picture but allows you to see what's on other channels via use of top and bottom parts of Screen. Additionally I am NO longer on contract with DISH Network for their Service outside their DVR service I just upgraded to last summer, but that will be sometime this year.
If I had to sign up for a 2 year contract with anyone I think I'd do it with DIRECT TV since they include both Versus and NHL Network in their 200 Channel package at a lower cost. Direct TV is definitely the BEST Sports Option over the rest.
