Cons
A lot of channels I don't like, not enough choices for channel packages, Contract if you lease equipment, overcharges at contract end, Service Plan snatched away with upgrade, Billing & tech support are hard to reach, they add items on the bill each month, Very bad customer service, Bad weather not good for the dish, can lose signal in high wind and rain, IT CAN COST AS MUCH AS CABLE, Horrible service, Start off low price then goes up, crappy customer service

Dish network —

Ask anyone that knows me and they will tell you I really do my research to get the best deal. When cable prices kept getting higher and higher, I looked at many satellite companies. I decided on Dish Network, they gave me a few special deals at the time: ten dollars off per month for 10 months and free in home service plan for a period of time. They advised me which channels were included in my package. The NFL network was INCLUDED in my package. Ten months later I get a notice that my bill is going up by three dollars. My receiver quit working and I had to pay 29.99 for someone to come out and give me a new on. I had not even had it for a year! Then BAM, my hubby comes home from work, switches to his favorite channel: NFL Network, and it is not there. That was the main reason we chose dish! I just called the company and it says, "If you are calling about the NFL network, please press one." I pressed one then, "We hope you enjoyed your free preview of the NFL Network, if you would like to keep the channel you have to upgrade to the top 200 package."

Talk about mad! I pressed the option to speak with the rep and said, "So, NFL was a preview for a year? So when the person said it was included in my package they were lying?"

The rep had no answer for that one he just reinstated the fact that it was a free preview.

So on top of having no TV every time it rains, my husband can't watch his favorite channel unless we want to fork out more dough!

I am very disappointed in the lack of honesty with this company and will cancel my service at the end of my contract.

I find it laughable that I can sign a contract that is okay for THEM to change at anytime, but I am not able to cancel my service when I want to do so.

I recently looked into Dish Network and they informed me they were affiliated with AT&T. When I called AT&T they told me they were no longer affiliated with DISH Network. When I called back Dish they had no idea of the change. This goes to show you how mismanaged they are. I am now looking into DirectTv as a TV provider. Satellite is still better then cable you just have to find the right one.

I also ran into lies. I was told that I could receive my local channels in HD it has been 5 months and still no local in HD. Whats the point in owning an HD TV if you can not watch ABC, FOX, NBC or CBS in HD. We had a bad windstom the other night and I was told that it would take a week for someone to come out and fix my dish. I asked for a credit for the days i would be without my Dish and they said it was an act of nature and could not issue me credit. That is B.S. Then i was told it was going to cost me $49.99 for someone to comeout to fix it. I live in a major city and the closest Dish repair person was 60 mile from me. I think they need to get their head checked. I will be coing somewhere else real soon and i dare them to try and charge me for cancelling my service. I too record my calls for training and i inform them they are being recorded as well.

You are so right. They lie and do not care what the customer wants.I had the top 100 but there were no movie channels such as Fox movie channel,Turner Classic movies and American movie classics. There was also no NFL network yet there were 16 shopping channels. When I had a question about their programming most of the time they could not answer it.They told me to call the natiol headquaters which was a long distance call. They could put a good programming package together but they refuse to and tell you lies. One Dish representive told me if they added TCM and AMC to the top 100 it would increase the price by $20.Bottom line is they do not care about what the customer wants and what you to pay more to upgrade. It's all about money to DISH.
