Dish network —

Thanks to the 177 souls who read that first "review". I still stand by what I wrote, the customer service for Dish Network isnt all that great. Haveing said that I do like the DVR, HD box. Its Vip722. It is nice to record one show and watch another. I also like the fact that you can rewind "live tv", or pause etc. This works best only if you havent changed the channel of the show you are watching, so channel surfing isnt a good idea if you want to use this feature.  Recording is very easy although I have had to pay attention to those buttons.

Play back is good for the DVR as well, and I have only noticed problems around the time TV was supposed to go digital.

We have had two strong storms since the dish went in. The down time lasted only 8 min. or so and only on the high number channels. Meaning that we had lower local channels during that period. which was good, given it was a storm.

After some consideration I would say to anyone who wants to switch, to make sure they do the following.  Be very clear on what package you want, and be firm when they attempt to talk you into anything else.  Make sure your teck man aims that dish in the right direction! If it seems they are haveing trouble, have them take a break. If you have an older TV , one that splits VHF from UHF, have the teck man make sure the connection is on the VHF.Their feed didnt go through on our UHF. I cannot explain why this made a difference but that was what kept our bedroom tv down for a day and a half.

If you are blessed with a new flat screen, I dont think you are going to have trouble. We didnt at least. This lovely tv is in the living room. The Dish Network picture comes in wonderfully. The line up of channels are good enough. And it must be enough if I have to record one to watch another.

So to sum it up, be sure that you want Dish Network,  Keep an eye on the teck guys sometimes they need a little help. Be firm with whoever you talk to on the phone, Its almost certain you will. After the install is complete take a deep breath and enjoy you favorite shows.   Thank you for reading, I hope this has been a little more helpfull.

That's a great idea about using the internet to watch shows--I hadn't really thought of that. The times would be more convenient also if you could access them later.

Hello Katrena, I am with you on paying for programming. The tech people who came to our house made so many mistakes I am surprized Dish gets customers at all. Thank goodness we dont have a basement or I think my household would be running those stairs with you. Who know maybe in a couple of years(thats when our contract ends) we will use the internet for more of those shows we do enjoy. Thank you for takeing time to read my review and your input. I hope your haveing a good day. Chad.

We have DISH and I wish we just used rabbit ears. I don't like to pay monthly for TV programming that I rarely ever watch. I'd rather take the kids outside to hunt for "tadholes" or write reviews on Viewpoints! Hope you don't have to buy another remote control--that one really hurts...and our tech guy set up our TV in the basement as the main TV so we have to go up and down the stairs if we need to trouble-shoot.
