I've been a loyal Discover card holder since the early 90s. Since the economic crisis of the banking industry hit our country hard and some banks have failed the end user, the consumer has eventually seen what their financial institutions are made of. Some of their banks or credit card companies have been bought out buy others and some have just gone under. Some have changed fees, raised rates, changed policies, etc. Well, Discover Platinum this past summer decided across the board to raise all of their customers rates to an effective rate of approximately 19+%. I find this unfair. I called to find out if I could get an individual rate adjustment based on my own personal credit history and history with Discover and the answer is no! No. Well, Discover, my answer to you is no. It's actually quite simple. You are not the only game in town. This recession like other recessions will not last forever. Discover's policy of treating all of their customers the same, badly, cannot last. The customers that would be good, loyal customers will dump them and go to a more fair rate credit card. It's not like credit card companies aren't everywhere in the United States. All the while Discover is treating a long time Platinum member like garbage, low and behold a new application comes in the mail to my spouse, who is an authorized user on my account. Shredder and file 13 you go.
