Discover - Discover Open Road Review

The Discover Open Road Card gives you 5% cash back on the first $100 you spend in gas and automotive purchases each month.  This includes car washes, oil changes, and auto repairs as well.  Anything over the 1st $100 gives you the standard up to 1% cash back beyond the initial 5%.  This is real cash, not just points.  It can be redeemed for gift cards giving you up to double the value, or you can simply take the cash.  Discover will deposit it directly into your checking or savings account, or you can use it to pay your Discover bill.  I save it up for the gift cards, though, since it gives me the better value, and I love to shop at their merchant partners.  Additionally, the cash back bonus doesn't expire as long as you account is active and in good standing.  You simply make your gas and automotive purchases with your Discover Open Road Card and once the cash back balance reaches $20 or more, you can redeem it for cash or gift cards.
