I have had Discover card since its inception. The card is widely accepted and it provides on line support that includes options to pay on line; see transactions, and get usage alerts at whatever level you want to set up. I use for the DISCOVER card for vast majority of my purchases due to the consistent level of cash back awards and periodic higher cash back on certain types of purchases. The cash back lets you get the actual money or apply it to get gift cards at slightly higher amounts (ie if you have 20, you can get a card for 25.
All of the above are positives, but when you dont pay off the card each month, then the finance rates are applied to the balance for that month, and the month following (even if you pay it off). In essence you have to pay it off two months in a row before you stop paying the finance charges. (DISCOVER puts all of this in their fine print, but it isnt something you would "assume). Since paying etc charges for the couple months in a year that I dont pay off the balance, I have decided to use a different card for months when I know I will carry a balance for a couple of months (around XMAS).
Overall, I would recommend using DISCOVER.
