Discover - Credit Card Review

I have very good credit and could have basically have any card I want but the one I use 99.9% of the time is Discover. There are a few merchants who do not accept this card and they really should if they are interested in customer satisfaction.

One of the main pros of using this card is the cashback dollars you accrue. If this is your primary credit card (as it is mine) you will find cash available each month. You have several choices as to how you want to use that cash. I like to credit it towards my balance. You earn cashback on every purchase but several times a year they run promotions where you earn more cashback (5% I believe). These promotions can be for certain merchants (stores, resturants, gasoline) or something else such as travel. I believe there are 4 types of promotions offered over the course of a year. What I like is these promotions are for things or places you will REALLY use. Some places offer promotions but have choices that would appeal to few. Most people shop, travel and use gasoline!

 Another pro is their website. I find it to be the most user friendly-- and I pay ALL my bills on-line. It is easy to navigate your way around, it's design puts everything at your disposal without having to search or spend any extra time than necessary. I also like that you can personalize the settings......i have mine to alert me when a merchant has issued a credit to my account. I find this important and really handy because that is something you want to know about right away without having to remember to look for it.

Lastly, they recently added a new feature where you could pick from 150 designs- so you can choose what you want your card to look like. That might sound minor but it's really cool to be able to personalize your credit card- when most of them are so boring to look at. I chose the Dalmation picture and have gotten many positive comments already- and i enjoy looking at it.

Almost forgot to mention one last thing. If you change your spending pattern or a charge looks odd, you will get an immediate call from Discover security verifying the charge. I like this feature as i feel secure that if my card was lost/stolen & somebody starting charging like crazy i would be alerted sooner than later. They have called me several times to confirm and i have appreciated each and every call. It lets me know they are watching and protecting my account from fraudulent charging.
