I discovered Discgear and the 50 CD holders while I was shopping on one of the TV shopping channels. I really love them! QVC had them on a special value price and I picked up two of them because all the software from three computers was turning into a mountain of mess! Needless to say I filled a whole trash bag with all the boxes and crystal cases leftover from my organizing spree and I could not be happier with my purchase!
It does take a little time to go through all the CD's and file them in the case but it is way worth it. In each set you get one fifty disk organizer, labels, a software CD to help you organize your titles, a pen to write down the titles on the pull out guide, and one Index album book file to put all your cd inserts or instructions.
I divided my two cases between gaming CDs and system software. I reccomend going to the discgear website to organize your titles instead of using the discgear software, or you can do it yorself with a spreadsheet application. After you finish alphabetizing or deciding how you want the CDs, you set up the index album with the stickers that correspond with the numbers on the discgear case. Each CD is filed under a different number in the case. You slip in your game guides, instructions or pictures in the numbered sleeves that match each CD in the index file. That way you can just look in the index guide when you want a game, find its number and choose it on the dial on the CD case. The case pops open easily and slides the cd out from the top so you can take it out easily. Putting it back is just as easy because there are individual slots. And the Discgear case locks so all your CDs stay secure and don't come tumbling out when you pick it up. And it does not take up too much room. The unit and the index sitting together only take up ten and a half inches of space lengthwise and the depth and height are around five inches.
You can also use this product for music CD's or picture and video CD's. And for those blank ones that come on spools that tumble over and get scratched before you ever get the chance to use them. Ack. And if you need something bigger or smaller than a fifty disk holder the Discgear also comes in different sizes: The 100 CD case, the portable 22 and 40 disk cases, and the giant 120 disk stackable unit. All are available on QVC for less than fifty dolllars. I love mine and I plan to buy a 120 disk size for all my music CDs when my budjet allows. Believe me you will not miss all those crystal cases or those giant software boxes. Keep the rebate box tops and collectable CD sets intact, sure. But the majority that end up strewn all over the house getting dirty and scratched need a safe place in a Discgear. Love it!
