Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe Review

Dirty Jobs hosted by Mike Rowe is one of the best television shows that I have seen in a long time.  Not only does this show entertain viewers, it usually educates viewers on various subjects as well. 

One of the things that is most appealing about this show is Mike Rowe's sense of humor and dedication to his work.  Not many television hosts would willingly put themselves in a position where they know that they will probably make a fool of themselves.  To me, this is part of what makes the show so entertaining.  The other part is the way Mike Rowe interacts with the guests of the show.  The people he works with are usually down to earth people trying tomake a living the best way that they can; they just happen to have jobs that are dirty or disgusting.  Mike's easy going nature usually puts them at ease which allows him to draw out of them why their job is important.  Usually by the end of the show, most guests feel so comfortable with Mike that they are joking with him.

While the entertainment factor of the show is the main attraction for viewers, I believe that the educational aspect is also very important.  Most of the time the show presents jobs that people either do not want to think about (sewage treatment plant worker) or jobs that they have never heard of (alligator breeder).  Despite the sometimes disgusting jobs that are presented, viewers are usually well informed about the jobs being presented as well as usually learning new facts about animals, places, or even chemical processes.  These educational tidbits are thrown in in such a way that they are easy to understand  for anyone who may be watching.
