We have quite a few little messes around our house...cat hair, kitty litter, crumbs on the kitchen floor...nothing major. I bought the Dirt Devil Vibe Scorpion Cordless Hand Vac for just those kinds of chores.
Dirt Devil Vibe Scorpion Cordless Hand Vac is a lightweight (1.7 lbs) blue hand-held vacuum that has a little crevice tool that flips out from the front of the vac. It comes with a docking station that stays plugged into the wall for recharging between uses. The dock can be mounted on the wall or just placed on a flat surface. Debris is suctioned into the canister, and you empty it by pressing a button that releases the bottom half of the vac, lift the fliter out, and dump the contents into the trash, replacing everything with one click. The motor is 7.2 volts.
What I like about it: The price is great: only around $20.00! For little jobs, like picking up kitty litter that's left on cat's paws, vacuuming along baseboards, and small tasks, it works just fine. The crevice tool is OK for cleaning in cracks, like underneath my kitchen cabinets, but I have much better luck just pulling my big ole Bissel out for those jobs than using the handvac. I love that this vacuum is rechargeable and the filter can be reused for a very long time. I have not yet had to replaced it, after almost a year's worth of use (typically at least 4 times a week) although it's starting to collect a lot of dust that can't be cleaned off anymore.
What I don't like about it: The wall mount is pretty cheap and does not stay on the wall well at all. I ended up with scratched up paint, and the vacuum and docking station fell off the wall several times before I just gave up and set it on a shelf. It can be a little challenging to "click in" to the dock until you get the feel for where the connection is. It you try to get cat hair off furniture, suck moths away from lamps, or pick up anything more than light crumbs and dust piles, you'll be disappointed, especially with the crevice tool. My vac doesn't even suck up little cat food kibbles.
For the price, I'm getting my use out of the Dirt Devil Vibe Scorpion Cordless Hand Vac. I would not buy this again, but would go for a pricier, heavier-duty hand-held vacuum that will do more than just pick up dust piles and a little kitty litter. if all you want it for is jobs like I use mine on, I do recommend it.
