I love this vacuum.

This vacuum is without a doubt the most versitile bagged handheld vacuum this company makes, and if you really want to stick with the dirt devil company this is the way to go if you want a powerful bagged vacuum.

I love this hand vacuum.

This handheld vacuum cleaning system truly has the power to pick up heavy de ree and clean stairs and upholstery better than any other handheld vacuum by the dirt devil company. This hand vacuum also has a hose and a crevice tool to extend you cleaning from your stairs and upholstery to you vehicle and tight spaces in your home. Maneuverability This vacuum is small but powerful so it is easy to move from place to place, but the only downside to this is you have to get down on your hands and knees to use it. Ease of Maintenance This handheld vacuum unlike many others does not rely completely on the fabric bag to capture the dust but it also has to have a paper bag inside the fabric bag, so even though it is easy to change and empty it cost money to maintain this vacuum. Suction Performance This handheld vacuum cleaner has very good suction for being what it is, so this makes it perfect for cleaning stairs and vehicles. Versatility Very few handheld vacuums have the great features like this one does, this is absolutly without a doubt one of the most versitile handheld vacuums out on the market today. This handheld vacuum has a hose and it comes with a crevice tool which makes this vacuum able to get into tight spaces with ease, you can also get a tool kit for this vacuum that comes with a duster, a upholstery nozel, and an extention hose to expand you cleans capabilities even more. Design This vacuums small lightweight design makes this vacuum potable and even easier to use than previous dirt devil handheld units, however it would have done the company good to include sorage hooks on the vacuum so y can wrap the cord with no priblem

Great for stairs!

4

The Dirt Devil Ultra Hand Vacuum M08230 is a wonder for carpeted stairs, it's easy to use and maneuver, and the bag can hold quite a bit of fuzz and pet hair. I use it often for all of the stairs in our home. I had been hoping to use it for our chairs, sofa, and loveseats as well, but the hose just doesn't seem to have the same power as the vacuum itself does. I can use the vacuum part on the sofas (which I do) but I can't get in the crevices, and find myself hauling out the full sized vacuum to do that. The other downside is this vacuum is INCREDIBLY loud. I mean really loud. Louder than my normal vaccuum, louder than the dryer, louder than the dishwasher... it's amazing a small appliance can make this much noise. It scares the pants off the dogs. However, as this vaccum is lightweight, easy to maneuver, and wasn't all expensive at all, I would say that it is a great small appliance for any household.

Useless hose

2

I was excited to purchase this vacuum. I had a similar one when i was a kid and remember it getting everything up. They just don't make things how they used to. This works ok when using the roller part, it cleaned the stairs pretty well. But the bag is kindof annoying and I found that the machine clogged up easily. This machine was way too bulky to get anywhere near the corners and edges of the carpet, so I tried to do the corners with the hose. The hose was completely useless. No matter what I could not get much suction out of the thing, and it did nothing to clean up the corners of my rooms and stairs. The hose was the main reason I bought this item in the first place, so I was really bummed that it did not work well. It would be so much easier to not have to lug around a large vacuum when cleaning stairs, but this just doesn't cut it. I returned it and am back to cleaning corners with the hose of a full size vacuum. Suction Performance Not enough suction in the hose

Dirt Devil Ultra Hand Vacuum works well for small, quick jobs.

5

Dirt Devil Ultra Hand Vacuum works well for small, quick jobs. It will not replace a full-sized vacuum, but that's not what it is supposed to do. It's great for small clean-ups. It is perfect for small jobs when I don't want to drag out my full-sized vacuum. It has fairly strong suction for such a small unit. It is much stronger than something like a "dust buster". And it works well on all surfaces (carpet, tile, or wood floors). I have read reviews where people try to compare it to a full-sized vacuum, and it fails miserably. But I would never use this IN PLACE of a full-sized vacuum. It's great for the stairs because it is so light weight and easy to handle. It is also great for hard-to-ready areas and the edge of carpet and corners. I have very long hair, and sometimes long hair gets wrapped around the brush/roller/bar. It's very easy to remove the hair. I just unplug the vacuum, take off the guard, remove the belt, remove the hair and put it back together. The bag is pretty big, so it does not have to be replaced very often. The cord is long enough so I can plug it in at the bottom of my stairs and go all the way to the top without running out of cord. Overall, this is a nice little product that does its job very well!

Works For What You Pay

When you have small areas which need a good vacuuming or if you just need a small vacuum for your stairs, the Dirt Devil Ultra Hand Vacuum is the route to go. This inexpensive hand vacuum works great on carpet and non-carpeted stairs. I use this vacuum once a week and it always surprises me just how much debris it picks up. For obvious reasons, it is not a good choice for large areas because it would take a long time to cover a large floorspace, but smaller spaces like small rooms and closets can be cleaned fairly well. I would not say that this vacuum is very easy to maneuver because it can not hover, it goes back and forth, and can not go sharply around corners. It is very easy to use. You simple ravel and unravel the cord around the machine when you are putting it away or taking it out for use. The debris is easy to empty from the machine and you do not need to worry about vacuum bags because this hand vacuum does not use bags. All the debris is caught in the body of the vacuum.

Very Loud Vacuum

3

I received this as a gift when I moved into my first house. Since I have had this vacuum I have only used it a handful of times. One of the biggest reasons I do not use it is because this little handheld vacuum is extremely loud. The last time I used it I could not hear anything but the vacuum. I personally like to hear what my children are up to while I am cleaning the house but with this product my children could be screaming and I would not hear it. Another reason I seldom use it is because it always gets clogged. I think I spend more time cleaning out the vacuum to bring the suction back than using it to clean up messes. This does clean up dog hair pretty good though. Most of the time I use this to suck up dog hair off my couches. I have tried to use this on other surfaces but it doesn't do that good of a job as another vacuum I have and use on a daily basis. The only reason I have not thrown thing vacuum away or even given it away is because it was a gift from a friend. Maneuverability This vacuum does get into small spaces but it does not pick up much in those small spaces. Ease of Maintenance When I do use this vacuum over half the time I am trying to clean it out to bring back the suction. Suction Performance This product has to be one of the worst vacuums I have used. The suction is not there. Versatility I have only been able to get this vacuum to pick up pet hair besides that it is useless. Sometime it will not even pick up the pet hair. Design I do like how this vacuum looks. Obviously looks are everything. Durability This vacuum works when it wants to. I have not had to buy any replacement parts for this handheld vacuum but I have spent a good amount of time to get it to suck again.

The hose is useless

3

I got the Dirt Devil Ultra Hand Vacuum a couple years ago as a gift and I've only used it a handful of times. This vacuum is very powerful. It will practically pick up anything off the carpet. It doesn't do well on hardwood floors. The vacuum can hold a lot before it gets full. The main job of this machine for me was to clean stairs. It does a wonderful job of cleaning stairs and the cord is long enough to reach all my stairs without changing outlets. This vacuum is a very loud and drowns out the sound of everything around it. This vacuum is also a little bulky, which prevents it from getting into tight spots to clean. Usually this is when the hose comes in handy, but sadly the hose is terrible. The hose just doesn't suck at all for some odd reason. This is the main reason why I stopped using this vacuum. The refusal of the hose to suck made me use another vacuum, which defeats the purpose of using the Dirt Devil. I definitely can't recommend the Dirt Devil Ultra Hand Vacuum because there are similar priced bag less products that do a better job.

Handy but LOUD little vacuum

4

If your ears don't have a problem with the volume, this is a handy little vacuum for stairs. Maneuverability This little handy vacuum can make vacuuming a huge 19 stair staircase much, much easier. It's very lightweight and easy to move across the stair. Ease of Maintenance Easy to empty out, but it has the strangest belt design where it actually twists around. If you ever have to change the belt it's rather tricky to get it on right, especially if the old one snapped so you can't see how it's supposed to go. Suction Performance This vacuum has average suction, nothing stellar. It's perks are its light weight. Versatility As I see it this vacuum really has only one or two purposes, stairs and maybe cars. Design Good design shape and all, I wish they could make it quieter though. It's actually so loud I stopped using it and just hold an upright and use the hose instead because this little thing makes my ears hurt. You can't even hear someone trying to tell you to turn it off because they are answering the phone because your head is stuck in a whirl of noise. Durability It's a pretty durable little machine. The belt was the only thing we have had to replace, and that was after quite a long time in regular use.

A nice little vacuum

4

This Dirt Devil is a nice little vacuum. It is fairly easy to use, with just a few annoying qualities. Overall, I like that it is lightweight. I bought this mainly to use on the stairs, so I wanted something that would be easy to lift and to carry. My stairs are carpeted, so I also wanted something with a good suction so that it could get in all the ground-in dirt. The suction on this vacuum is great! The vacuum also has a nice sized bag, so I like that I don't need to stop to change the bag all that often. There are two things I don't like about the vacuum. There is a hose on the side of the vacuum that you can use for small spaces. When I use the hose, I don't feel like it has a very good suction, so I don't use it as often as I would like. Also, in order to use the hose, there is a cover that you need to slide down over the brush area. The problem is that the cover slides down WAY too easily when just using the brush, and I often find myself having vacuumed for several minutes without noticing that my brush was covered the whole time! That is so frustrating to me, and something I would definitely want Dirt Devil to work on. It is not enough of an annoyance to stop me from recommending this vacuum, though. Suction Performance Great when using the brush, not good at all when using the hose.
