Dirt Devil should be ashamed to put such a bad product on the market. The vacuum claims to be the "perfect pet for pet owners." Well, maybe if you have a hairless dog or cat. I saw the claim and thought I found the solution to our dog's hair problem. We bought it at Wal-Mart for $85 and it was broken after 3 cleanings. The hair from our Sheltie got caught up in the shoddy-built floor roller and burned it up. Big chunks of plastic kept spitting out of the roller since it was froze up. Since it is a new model, the local vacuum repair store didn't have a replacement roller and needed to order one...

I bought the Dirt Devil Purpose for Pets upright in April of this year.  In June, the ends of the roller disintegrated into tiny pieces.  I contacted Dirt Devil about getting a new roller.  I was told that the roller was not covered under warranty and that I would need to purchase a new one.  I was also told that I needed to remove the roller each time I vacuumed and clean it after every use!  I had cleaned it once since I purchased it, and let me tell you, it is so difficult to remove to clean!  You would think that if Dirt Devil makes a roller that needs to be cleaned after every use,...

This is the worst vacuum I've ever owned or heard about anyone using. In fact, my friends cannot believe my story about this vacuum!

I am on my third Dirt Devil Purpose for Pets so far - after a few uses, the first one kept overheating and cutting off. Dirt Devil's customer service said that I could take it to a repair facility or back to Wal Mart. I chose to return it to Wal Mart and got a new one. The new one did the same thing. I couldn't even vacuum a whole room before it would cut off. So I called Dirt Devil and they said to send it back. They sent me a return label and said to take it to...

With 2 Golden Retrievers, I need a vacuum that really does the job.  This machine does NOT.  My mom was a loyal Royal fan and I had an old hand-held Dirt Devil that was an amazing workhorse.  So I thought the brand was still worthy of my patronage. 

 I can't tell you how disappointed I am in this vacuum.  It picks up beautifully, yes.  I feel the cleaning power is probably excellent. 

However, after only 7-8 uses, the beater brush seized up and started smoking.  I called Warranty Service and they told me (great news) that the beater brush was one of several parts not covered.  But they...

The Dirt Devil Purpose for Pets is an amazing machine.  My dog sheds constantly and leaves a trail of hair all over the house.  The Dirt Devil picks it up!  You can see how much dirt is being picked up in the canister so you know that it's doing it's job.  The only downside that I have found is that when the filter gets too dirty, the machine shuts off too protect from overheating.  Not really a downside except that you can't continue sweeping until you clean the filter and allow the machine to cool off completely.

I love it!

We have two long haired cats and this vacuum was great.  There was only one problem, it loses suction fast and you have to clean out the filter often.  But I suppose that can be expected when there is so much hair!

I was so exicted when I recieved this vacuum from my mother in law for christmas, It has several neat tools.  I still really like the vacuum, but the tool that you see in the picture doesnt work as well as I would like it too.  I've tried to use it on my furnature, and while it may be the material that they're made out of, but the hair doesnt come off that well.  Over all I am still satasfied with the vacuum.
