Still going strong!

I was given this machine by my olks a few years back. I use it primarily for my staircase and for my brick fireplace hearth. Nothing beats a handheld and I also have the Dirt Devil Dyna Power 26. with the heppa filter system and it's been terrific and dependable for the last 7 years. HIGHLY RECOMMEND both of my #DirtDevils, indeed~

Dirt Devil Handheld Vacuum--It's A Handy Little Devil!

5

The Dirt Devil Proce 1400 is a mean little machine. It is lightweight and easy to use. Although it is a bagged system, when used for only those "little" clean-up jobs, this vacuum will hold plenty of dust bunnies. Maneuverability The Dirt Devil is lightweight and easy to use. The power cord is longer than I would have expected and allows you to get around any normal size room. Since this vacuum is so lightweight, it is also easy for kids to use to clean up after themselves. Ease of Maintenance Maintenance is simple on the Dirt Devil. All you need to do is replace the vacuum bag when full. This is a very simple task to do and takes all of one little minute or less! Suction Performance We originally purchased our Dirt Devil for our 5th wheel travel trailer. We have carpet in the bedroom and part of the living area in the 5th wheel. This vacuum does the job pretty fast because of the limited area of walking space in the bedroom and living areas. The living areas I am referring to are the dining room and living room, which are divided with living and dining on one side with carpet and the kitchen on the opposite side. I have to say that this vacuum has always taken care of the job at hand. Versatility Since the Dirt Devil is lightweight, small and portable, it can go just about anywhere with you as long as you have an electrical outlet to plug it in to. We have since brought our Dirt Devil into the house since we are not traveling at the moment due to parent's on-going health conditions. It comes in very handy when my grandson comes to visit. You know the routine--eat cookies and milk for a snack and you end up with crumbs on the floor! Grabbing the Dust Buster is much quicker than pulling out a full size vacuum cleaner and gets the job done. Design I have no complaints about the design of the Dirt Buster. It's lightweight and I love that because I have trouble lifting heavy objects. Durability We have had our Dust Buster for around 20 years now. It's a dinosaur! That in itself specks of its durability.

Our Dirt Devil Bagged Handheld Vacuum Sucks! LOL

5

Sorry, I know, it isn't a very nice way to say it, but our Dirt Devil bagged handheld vacuum does amazing jobs a cleaning up carpet/rugs in a very short period of time. I first ran into one of these when I went camping with my brother probably 22-23 years ago now! I thought my brother and his wife were nuts for putting down carpet remnants all around their campsite and figured they must beat the things against trees before they left to clean them. Nope, they had one of these Dirt Devil vacuums with them and threw all the rugs on the picnic table and fired it up. (I know, not for the true hearted remote/rustic campers of the world who don't believe electricity should be included in the camping experience.) The point is these carpet remnants were ***very*** clean when they were done with them and then they just vacuumed off the picnic table when they were done... cleaner than any broom would have done on the picnic table I might add! Since then, I've camped with my immediate family and always make sure we take ours along. What's really cool about it is we can reuse the bags over and over if it is just dust/dirt we are vacuuming up. At home, this thing is a no-brainer for doing carpeted steps and the occassional dumped ash tray. (Yup, I'm one of those ***EVIL ***smokers! LOL) This vacuum has all the suction you need to get the floor as clean as if you'd have used an upright. It's that good. The only downside I've found is the bags. They cost a lot for what you get. Quite often, even at home, we'll reuse the bags if we can get the gunk out easily. Otherwise, it's the "slap on another bag" routine... if we can find them! One other "downside" is that this thing works so good and has a 20 foot cord that you might forget you have an upright vacuum to do the wide open spaces of carpet in your house... I kid you not! This vacuum is that good! I've found myself on my hands and knees actually doing that a couple times before I slap myself upside the head and break out our upright. Keep in mind though, it isn't a "Dustbuster" of the late 80s/90s and won't fit into very tight spaces. For that, you'll need to break out either you shop vacuum, your bagless upright with hose/tools, or your "Dustbuster". Get one of these and your close areas of your house will look much better for it. Trust me!

These SUCK but they're not very good at it

I have had 2 of these, but I have broke 3!!! My mom had one (before I broke it) some how I broke the little rubber band thing in it and it wouldn't work after that. I got one after I first got my house thinking the first incident had to be a fluke right? I don't remember what kind of mess I was trying to vacuum up, but I smelled something burning and it went off and never would turn on again. I eventually missed my little Dirt Devil and bought another one (ok so really I didn't want to spring for a good handheld) I don't even remember what happened to that one, I think I sucked up a loose strand of carpet on our stairs. Yes, that's it now I remember it was all tangled around that beater bar thing and somehow I broke it trying to get it all out of there. I just had that carpet put in not too long before that, too. So...I don't like the little Dirt Devils or they don't like me I am not really sure which one, I don't even remember what kind of hand held deally I have now, but I've had it for years and it hasn't caught on fire or anything. Of course I do have almost all hardwood floors and my kids are a little older now and not quite AS messy. I still don't think that Dirt Devil is a very good brand though. I guess sometimes you get what you pay for. Maneuverability meh...it's still hard to get to places. Ease of Maintenance Bags are gross. Suction Performance just ok until it finds a loose piece of carpet, then it really goes to town :( Versatility ok for cleaning stairs or out cars. no cool attachments or anything let's face it you wont be massaging your dog with a Dirt Devil anytime soon. Design Looks like it should have a set of bag pipes sticking out the end Durability I could break one in 2 days

handy for light jobs in small spaces

Nice, simple design.  This vacuum works well in small or tight spaces but it doesn't have very good suction.  Suction is very important to me in a vacuum.  This is what seems to pick up what I need picking up, ie: dog hair, dirt, etc. This vacuum will not work well in cars or on pet hair.  It is good for simple dirt on stairs.  I have tried using it on furniture but it does not seem to pick up much.  My husband bought this for me with that specific use in mind.  It seems to sit in the closet most of the time.  The bag does seem to fill up quickly and it is a messy, dirty job to empty it.  I have found that if I place it in a plastic grocery bag to empty it saves on the mess.  I would prefer to have to buy bags for it that I could then throw away.  I seem to get dirt coming through the bagless bag on my vacuum, too.  It seems to have defeated the purpose an I then am forced to bring out the large vacuum to clean up the mess.

Dirt Devil Handheld Vacuum--great little vacuum

4

My wife and I have had the Dirt Devil handheld vacuum for a LONG TIME. I am pretty sure it was given to us by my in-laws so who knows how long ago this handheld vacuum was purchased. All I can say is that it is extremely durable and a very good quality handheld vacuum. It is perfect for smaller jobs like vacuuming steps, couches, inside the car, etc. It can be a little hard to fit into tight areas but other than that there really are not any negative qualities that I have experienced. This handheld vacuum does have a bag that needs replaced when full, but it is really easy to replace and is not messy during replacement which is a plus. It is small, so easy to store and very portable. It has great suction, so I feel like whenever we do use this handheld vacuum it really cleans thoroughly and well. I would recommend this handheld vacuum to anyone looking for an affordable yet quality product that will last YEARS!

Best handheld vacuum around: Dirt Devil Handheld Vacuum

5

My mother bought a Dirt Devil bagged handheld vacuum years ago, when I was still young enough to be "ordered" to do chores and I have not found as good a mini vacuum to this day.  I love that it has bristles to actually get down into the carpet and fabric.  I also think it is awesome that it can be used on furniture as well as carpet and does a good job on everything.  I ended up getting one for free from a friend and have carried it with me on my 3 moves.  I like that the cord is long and the vacuum is easy to take apart and make any fixes to without needing to take to a vacuum doctor.  There are only two negatives I have to say about this vacuum: the first is that it is loud, but I really don't mind that very much and it helps me know it is working well because when the noise changes I know something is wrong!  The second negative is that no attachements are able to be added (like the Shark).

Menh, could take it or leave it.

While, yes, I would agree that the Dirt Devil Proce 1400 Bagged Handheld Vacuum IS powerful, especially for such a small vacuum, I don't like it 100%. It does have a strong sucking power, but with the way the nozzle part is designed, you have to have it flat to actually suck stuff up. This vacuum is great for stairs, but really, that's about all I can recommend it for. The overall design isn't that great, either. You have to hold your arm at an uncomfortable angle to use the vacuum, and if you're doing a whole flight of stairs then it's REALLY uncomfortable by the time you're done. I also dislike how it vibrated when in use. My hand was not only tired, but numb, when done. And the hose attachment for the front? What a joke!! It wasn't hard to put on, but to re-attach the belt after use was horrible!! The cord did not wind up well- there are no hooks or anything to loop it around, or attach it to. So it ends up being pretty messy.

A great picker-upper for a mom with messy kids!

I just love this vaccum!  I use it almost daily in my house.  This vaccum is wonderful for cleaning up messes left behind by my children.  I also use this vaccum when cleaning out my car because it is small enough to get in the cracks and crevases of my car seats and floor boards.  I love that it is versatile and can be used on many different surfaces whether it be floor, tile or linoleum.  My only complaint about this vaccum is that it does require bags which can sometimes be hard to find since this model has been upgraded to a newer model by the company which is bagless.  If the bag becomes too full, it starts spitting out the contents of the bag and making a mess, so you do have to watch how full your bag becomes so you don't create a bigger mess.  Overall though, this is an essential household cleaning tool to have around for those little messes.  I would definitely recommend this to a mom with small children who so easily make a mess playing or eating.

good product for the money

**Dirt Devil Proce 1400 Bagged Handheld Vacuum is a decent product for the price. This works pretty well. It is some what light weight and does offer attatchments. These are great on stairs however you do have to use the to get in the  attachments to get the nooks and crannies.  The belts do hae a tendency to break so learn howto change them. Because you will have to change one at some point. But that is a simple thing to do. The only really bad thing about these is they have a tendency to smell after a while. The bag seems to absorb odors so you will have a nasty smell especially if you have pets.  I am impressed with the suction and that the cord is actually long enough for stairs. This makes vaccuuming steps easy. They are made very well. I have had one for almost 10 years and it is still going strong. I get to use all sorts of vaccuums because i own a cleanng company. With the cost & quality this is a GOOD ONE!!**
