Dirt Devil Featherlite M085530 —

I got this while I was a single guy and didn't have a lot to clean in my little small place. It wasn't expensive and I figured it would do the job that needed to be done. It has 12 amps of sucking power and I am no expert on vacuums but most of the others sitting there were less powerful so I grabbed this one.

Dirt Devil Featherlite

It does a fair job of getting stuff up off the floor and I can hear cat litter going up through it all the time. I do have to go over some places twice with it but I have never had one that got everything in one pass anyway. Most times its pet hair or my hair that needs a second pass and to me it is understandable. The attachments do come in handy for corners, furniture and under the beds and it does a pretty good job at getting all those little dust bunnies up.

The only problem I have had with it is the number of belts I go through with this Featherlite. It seems I am going through a belt a month with it. I don't know that it is the vacuums fault as there is a lot of pet hair that gets caught up on the roller plus with my long hair I find it on the roller as well. I always know right before it burns it up because I can smell the rubber, sometimes I can catch it before hand but others it goes quick. I do clean the roller before each use though.

Changing the bag takes less than a minute and is as easy as pushing the button, flipping it open and changing the bag! It works great for that flea powder I use on the carpets and doesn't send a cloud of dust all over the place. After all that stuff is pretty fine and putting it down causes a Mt. Saint Helen's effect with the large plumes of dust that come up when you apply it.

With attachments the reach of this is 8 1/2 feet and it also has a Micro Mesh Filtration System that is supposed to trap 99% of those little dust particles that can irritate your nose. It is very light and easy to carry around. The on board tool caddy is easy to use and holds everything securely in place. Being light is a plus for me as it doesn't take a lot to cause my back to go into rebellion mode and start hurting.

    Bottom Line

Although this may not be suited for your main vacuum it sure does a great job as far as I am concerned. It is light and easy to push around and for people like me with nerve and muscle problems it is a great little vacuum.

This is not the best vacuum on the market by a long shot. However it does a decent job and other than eating belts has not given me any trouble in 4 years of having it. It's not a fancy bagless model and it doesn't do stairs very easy, but it will get the carpets clean. I once bought one of those fancy vacuums and to be honest it did no better than this cheap little Dirt Devil so I am satisfied with what I bought. After all how many Rednecks do you know that own and use a Baby Blue Vacuum?

I give her credit for sticking with it -- I had a bagless and used it twice and GAVE IT AWAY!

My daughter has a bagless and is always taking it apart to clean it so it will work, I have never taken mine apart and it still works. ;)

Sounds great! And I prefer being able to change bags instead of getting stuck with a clogged up hepa filter.
