Dirt Devil Envision Review Summary

While opinions varied about how good the Dirt Devil Envision Vacuum was, the overall ratings are somewhere below average. Some reviewers felt that the Dirt Devil Envision was “not bad for the price” and offered “good suction” as vacuums go. But other reviewers felt “ripped off” by the Envision and felt it was “a waste of time and money”. Among the complaints was that the Dirt Devil Envision “does not edge clean” and one has to “clean the filter often”. Also, this Dirt Devil vacuum is an underperformer when going over carpets and, according to our reviewers, loses most of it’s suction after only about a year. Bottom line, you may want to keep perusing our vacuum reviews.

My daughter bought this vacuum over a year ago because it was cheap and didn't use bags -- thinking that meant she NEVER had to do anything but turn on and run. That's what she did -- for a year. Then I came to help her with her son for a couple of months. I have had 2 canasters (Eureka, Kenmore), an...

I got this vacuum last X-mas, and it has lost basically all suction in less than a year. The hose has pretty much no suction at this point, and the main vacuum part has very little. I have to go over carpets way too many times to get only 70% of the crud out of them. Don't even think about using this... read full review »

The Dirt Devil En Vision, upright vacuum is horrible.  If you dislike repeatedly cleaning vacuum cups, dislike having dirt blown at you, want a cheap piece of crap, then this is for you.

The bagless cup does not fill up completely because the filter clogs up easily, and you have atleast 1/4 of the vacuum cup filled before you have to empty it out, which is a very messy procedure - especially since the poorly put together ensamble (that someone most likely overseas put together in an underground sweat shop filled with leg and armless children), is difficult to wrestle with.
Make sure you wear a gas...

I bought the Dirt  Devil Envision at Walmart in June of 06, meaning I've owned it for almost two years. In that time I've only used it a handful of times because its horrible!! It worked the first two times great, then it fell apart. It fills up so fast, and then it clogs, so I emptied it, took it apart several times to clean it, and it still sucks (not in the good way)! The hose also has a tendency to fall out every time I used it and everything blows back out the whole. I would NEVER EVER rec. this to anybody, even my worst enemy deserves a better vacuum than this one!!!

We bought this vaccuum with money we'd received as wedding gifts almost 4 years ago. Oh to be young and rich again! I guess I just went out looking for a good, inexpensive vacuum. It said "Dirt Devil" on it- so I figured I'd found quality... and still wanting to buy a camera, I thought "great! This is cheap!"  Well, I suppose their more expensive ones work well, but this one doesn't.

I've got two messy kiddos who love to eat crackers and short of tying them to the kitchen table, they inevitably end up in the living room. Mess! The one is gone right now with her Daddy and the other is napping,...

I BOUGHT THIS ABOUT 8 WEEKS AGO AND HAVE REPLACED THE BELT 4 TIMES!! THE FILTER CONSTANTLY CLOGS AND REPLACING IT DOESN'T WORK EITHER!! I EMAILED THE COMPANY AND THEY TOLD ME TO DO EVERYTHING I HAVE ALREADY DONE TO THE VACCUM!! I WOULD SAY DO NOT BUY THIS!! YOU WILL SPEND JUST AS MUCH IN REPLACEMENT PARTS AS IT COST TO PURCHASE THE VACCUM ITSELF!! SPEND ABOUT 20-30 DOLLARS MORE AND GET A GOOD VACCUM THAT'S WORTH WHILE!! I HOPE THIS HELPS THE NEXT UNSUSPECTING CONSUMER!!

I bought this vacuum thinking it would function as well as my old Bissel, and I was wrong. This may be a decent vacuum if you do not own pets, or dont use the attachments, or do not produce alot of dirt. The areas were this vacuum fails miserably are these: the attachment hose is stiff and short. It is not of the flexible plastic that quality vacuums are constructed, but the cheap kind that is hard and stiff. For instance, you will be vacuuming along, and you'll look down and see the hose has popped out of the suction port, rendering your effort useless. You might be using the brush attachment... read full review »

I've had the Dirt Devil Envision for 2 or 3 years now. I haven't had any major problems with the vacuum. I've owned quite a few vacuums over the years and cannot remember any that are spectacular. I usually spend between $50 and $80. My wife on the other hand hates every vacuum I have ever bought. That is because she consistently vacuums things that are not meant to go in the vacuum ie. socks. The belt usually burns and I have to replace it. I do not like the fact that the filters should be replaced often. We have two teenagers, two dogs, and three cats. I do have to disassemble the bottom portion... read full review »

The dirt Devil EnVision was fine at its job for the first few months of use. We purchased it from Wal-Mart because we needed something expedient when we moved into our new home 1 year ago. The previous comments ring true, the filter must be changed every six months for it to maintain a resonable level of suction. The attachments never have worked as well as expected, the power brush stopped working after three uses. The canister is large but still gets clogged rather easily.

The machine is quiet and works well for those who may need something for a small area (ie. college students, small apartments)....

The Envision is a messy piece of junk. Worked wonders the first couple of times. I have no pets, no kids, just 2 adults living in a 700 sq ft apartment and not a lot to clean after. This DIRT GOD spits out and scatters more dirt and dust in my home than cleans it. We've taken it apart, cleaned it out, changed the filter and washed it! NOTHING WORKED! Every so often I'd find the tube that sucks the air into the filter fall out so everything that I vaccuum falls right back on my carpet....I even tried vaccuuming my kitchen floor(carpetless) and it still spits out dirt! Never again will i waste a...

I purchased this when upgrading from a bag to bagless and I wish I had spent the money to get something with better quality and performance.  The extension always clogs, the suction is very poor after a while of using and the filter needs cleaning after almost every single use.  It leaves dirt and sand on the floor because the suction is poor.  I spend more time cleaning the filter and unclogging the extension tube than actually using it.  Spend the extra 20-30 dollars and get something with better performance.  I am disappointed in Dirt Devil, this unit does not carry their name well at all. ...

Don't waste your money on this vacuum.  I wish I had read WalMart's reviews before purchasing this thing!  It works great the first one or two times you use it, but that's about it!  It clogs, the attachment hose falls out of it's recepticle throwing anything this vacuum happens to suck up right back at you, and it is basically worthless!  I was advised by Dirt Devil to change the filter, which happens to be about $20.  I am kicking this thing to the curb!

I've had this vacuum for roughly six months now and it really is a piece of junk. It's insanely noisy and for you to be able to get anything off the carpet, you have to sweep very slowly. Even then, there are pieces of lint that don't move. Occassionally it will leave a trail of dirt on the right side, so I have to vacuum over it again and again. Sometimes I opt to use my Eureka hand held vacuum just to avoid the noise and ineffectiveness of this thing.

The Dirt Devil en vision bagless uprite is the worst vacuum ever.  It supposedly has 25% more suction power but I've never had luck with good suction from it.  I have had nothing but problems with it.  I have taken it apart and put it back together several times.  The first time I did this I was able to get it working again but not since.  I would never recommend this to anyone.
