Doesn't work right

2

We have the Dirt Devil broom at work and this thing does not work. One day our 3 hole punch got jammed and someone decided that it would be a great idea to just open it up right on the desk versus over a garbage can. The hole puncher exploded upon opening and little paper circles went flying everywhere. So being lowest in the order of hierarchy in the office, I was asked to clean it up. I grabbed the Dirt Devil and went to work. Let's just say I was lucky if it even picked up an eighth of those little circles. I ran it over the carpet again and again but the broom simply wouldn't pick anything up. I turned it around to see if it was jammed and it all looked clear so I tried over and over again and nothing happened. I finally gave up and tried using a regular broom. I got most of it up that way and then resorted to packing tape to pick up the stragglers. Overall, no impressed and I definitely wouldn't buy this for my home. Maybe objects need to be more rigid and not flat?

Don't waste your money

I thought this would be the end of my broom and dustpan days.  Nope.  It's actually quicker to grab to broom and dustpan.  The bristles are not really long enough to sweep well.  And you have to angle the broom just the right way to get it to suck up any of the debris.  It's just not worth it.

Such a waste of money

I had been checking this out for a while and decided because it was pricey that I would add it to my birthday/christmas wish list. My sister got it for me 2 years ago and to this day I have not had the heart to tell her that she wasted her money on a horrible product. It is really heavy for its size, does not have good suction, small bristles, loud, tiny amount of charge etc etc etc. I used it about 10 times and decided that I am better off bending down and picking little grains of dirt and dust off my floor that to keep charging this and trying to go over them to suck them up over and over and over. Dont waste your money!!!!

Great for quick pick-ups!

3

My parents gave us the Dirt Devil Rechargeable Broom-Vacuum as a Christmas gift. With two kids and a dog, I find that the floors in the kitchen and family room, which are our "high traffic" areas get messy on a daily basis. I don't have time to do a thorough vacuuming on a daily basis, but this is great for quick pick-ups to keep things looking nice, and it does a great job with dog hair! I love that it is lightweight and portable. I also love that I don't have to mess with a dust pan when "sweeping" the kitchen. Since it's so easy to use, I even let my six year old use it every now and then and when she does, she actually thinks chore time is fun! One thing I have noticed is that the suction is not great, so you sometimes have to go over the same area a few times to get everything up. I typically just use this for quick clean-ups, so this is not that big of a deal for me. When I want to be more thorough, I still use a regular broom or vacuum to get the job done. The other thing that I have noticed is that it doesn't seem to hold the charge for very long, but it is OK for quick use in smaller areas. It works great on my downstairs. I probably wouldn't have spent my own money on this, but we have enjoyed using it.

Not worth your time and money

1

I purchased this at a tool outlet for a great price about a year ago. I was really excited about it and thought it would be a great addition to my household cleaning items, as I have mostly wood floors and I thought it would help me in my sweeping efforts. I was dissapointed quickly! First it is a little bit heavy and cumbersome. Secondly, it does not suck up very well, and does a horrible job around corners. Thirdly, when you dump the container it doesn't dump completely. Fourthly, you have to change the costly filter way to often. And lastly, the battery does not hold a charge long enough to do all my floors. Don't waste your time and money on this faulty product. I was sorry that this was not a better made product.

Dirt Devil broom vac, handy to have for fur filled stairs

4

I got this gadget for one thing only, to vacuum my stairs. I have wood stairs and two labradors that seem to shed at the blink of an eye! Digging out my Dyson to drag up and down the stairs got old fast. Plus I do not have an outlet near them so it was a pain to get the vacuum plugged in to do them. I did some research on cordless vacuums. I could not find reviews that said anything was good for stairs with fur... am I the only one with this problem?! This is the one that sounded best. I was dissapointed when the directions recommended using it as a broom first and then just vacuuming up the pile you made. Not what I was thinking. But I use it as I wanted, vacuum on as I go across each step. Although it's not perfect, it does a much better job than a broom does, not quite as good as the vacuum (surprise, ha!) Now, I was HOPING that it would also help me in keeping my entry way fur free. I must say this is too big of a task for this little guy. The fur and dirt catches too much in the bristles and I have to pull it out with my hands, might as well be using the broom and pan. If it had more suction I think it would do better, but what can I expect from something cordless?! So although I really would not recommend this for someone with an large area like an entry with lots of dirt and fur, I give it an above average because it does what I wanted, cleans my stairs. It's also good for small, quick clean ups in my kitchen and other wood floor areas. As long as you don't expect too much from it, it's a good product.

the dirt devil broom vac does work, not for really dirty areas.

3

I like the way this vacuum (dirt devil broom vac vacuum) works on floors, it does pretty well, as long as you dont have any big rocks or leaves. On carpet, it doesn't do well in high traffic areas, or where there is a lot pet hair, and dirt. For light travel areas, does seem to do fine. I wish that it did better in the high traffic areas, because it is lightweight and very easy to maneuver around couches, chairs and tables, including corners. I guess for a smaller type of quick up appliance it does ok, but i would like it to pick up better, so i dont have to pull out the big vacuum afterwards, and redo certain areas of my home. I guess i find it does ok, not great and not awful!!

The Broom Vac by Dirt Devil makes sweeping a click easier !

5

The Dirt Devil Broom Vac has made my life so much easier. I love the portable cordless feature. It means no dust pans or airborne clouds as I try to get the mess off the floor. I use it everyday to sweep my entrance way. No need to shake floor rugs, simply run the vac over them. The bristles attached to the base of the unit make getting under the counters a snap. I have so much more time and less back pain using this item. I love the fact that I can capture the dirt and just pop off the cup and empty it. No flying particles to contend with. The charge lasts for days and it stored flat. It is no bigger than a standard broom, and you don't have to search for the dust pan everytime you want to clean. The kids used to fight me to help in the floor cleaning. Now I noticed my 15 year old daughter picking and clicking the dirt Devil Broom Vac without being asked. the filters last forever also. i have runout a few times and just rinsed the original. It still works great !! The lightweight design means easy manuevering and yet it picks up the largest of particles off the floors. I spilled a potted plant last week, and wondered if i should use the vac or not. i tried it and WOW - it picked up every last bit of mess. I would have spent much more on the vac, but I actually spent under 40.00. Who could beat that?  The Dirt Devil Broom Vac is definitely the best purchase we have made for our household this year !! I would recommend it to anyone with kids, pets or husbands that track in and out of the house everyday.

Really handy to have around the house.

I really like having this thing around.  It's perfect if you just have a small mess to pick up and don't want to have to break out your vacuum cleaner.  The down side is that it can be a bit annoying to clean.  The worst part of the cleaning is that the broom vac has a small filter that tends to collect a majority of what is vacuumed up.  The best way I've found to clean the filter, ironically, is by using my vacuum cleaner (along with it's attachments). Despite the cleaning annoyance, I still think that this is a worthwhile gadget to have.

Pretty good but hard to empty.

3

I love the way the broom vac is small and easy to carry around the house. It was a little heavier than I thought it would be though. I do find that it is difficult to empty the bucket when it fills up because you have to turn it upside down and the little button is hard to push and then it is hard to figure out how it goes back on again.  It also loses the charge rather quickly. It is easy to use and picks up the cat hair tumbleweeds that are all over the house.
