Comments about Dirt Devil Accucharge Cordless Hand Vac:
Although I have an upright vacuum, I need a small, cordless handheld for certain tasks. I've owned a few different models/makes over the years, but before owning the Dirt Devil Accucharge, the mini-vacs would lose their charge after a few minutes, or even seconds of use. When vacuuming under cushions, on windowsills, and tight corners, this is unacceptable to me. After researching several different handheld makes and models, I replaced my Black & Decker handheld with the Dirt Devil Accucharge handheld. This vac is about the same dimensions as other handhelds I've used. It is cordless and has a wall mounted charging rack like other models as well. After charging for 24 hours after buying, I tried the DD model in my regular tasks. It kept its charge for the full time throughout all the tasks.
It creates a loud noise when vacuuming, which isn't a problem for me. The handle is a good size so that both I and my husband can use it. At the front of the "sucking area" is a fold-out nozzle that can be released with a button to extend the sucking area and to fit into tight spaces. The nozzle narrows to an area of about 1 square inch. For me, the nozzle is a little hard to release and the first time I used it I broke a nail trying to extend it.
The suction is just as good using the nozzle as using the vac without the nozzle.
The suction power for both is adequate to suck up dust, crumbs, dog hair, etc., from hard surfaces and fabric surfaces such as upholstery.
I've had this unit for about 4 months now and the charge has not reduced since my first use. It continues to charge and hold its charge during tasks.
(Nozzle release is stiff.)
(Nozzle release is stiff and I envision the plastic release feature breaking in the future.)
