I appreciate good television, but DIRECTV has trouble delivering. First, they promised more high definition (HD) channels since last year and I am still waiting to receive them. I've had pixelation from their crappy DVR. I've had service interrupted multiple times throughout the past year and I don't live in a rural area. The customer service is always mediocre to bad. Once had a rep tell me that they have been having trouble getting their satellites up and running in Louisiana and that's why the HD channels have been slow to rollout. Also I shouldn't be concerned with the amount of HD channels I have because there are people who lost their homes in hurrican Katrina.
Their DVR's user interface is terrible. They have multi-colored buttons on the remote that mean something different depending on which screen you are on. Who designed this a ten year old? They should have stuck with TiVo. I personally have one of each product (an HD-DIRECTV/TiVo and an HD DIRECTV DVR) and side by side, the TiVo knocks out their version in one punch.
