It clears out congestion and goes to work on the throat, helping to soothe and reduce the tickling sensation that leads to coughing and hacking. Dimetapp Cold and Allergy medicine is great for kids, but parents need to know that the manufacturer recommends this medicine only to kids age six and older. It is also worth remembering that each dose is good for only four hours, so you may need to provide multiple doses to get through a single day. I have suffered for many years with allergies, stuffy nose, runny nose, even stopped up ears. I have been to Allergy Specialist , Medical doctors, And Ear,Nose, and Throat Doctors. Needless to say I have tried pretty much everything out there whether Rx or over- the- counter. One day i noticed Dimetapp Cold and Allergy i read the ingredient's  Bromphreniramine maleate( this is the allergy drug and Phenylephrine HCI this is the decongestant drug) I must say this stuff really works takes about 30 minutes and my nose will clear up no stuffiness and my sneezing stops  along with that awful tickle in my throat. I know this is for kids but I take the adult to kids 12yrs dosage and it works. I recently took the bottle to my family Doctor, he read the ingredients and he said if it works thats great, keep taking it. He said he could write a prescription for something similar but I told him I'd just keep taking my Children's Dmetapp.

When those allergies hit for the little ones, there is nothing a mom would not do to make them feel better. Thankfully, the good people that make Dimetapp understand this, because they make the best product for kids suffering from allergies. Hands down. I have a son that suffers from environmental allergies. The doctor has him take a name brand OTC medication everyday, but at certain times of the year, even that little pill isn't enough. That's when she recommended that he take Dimetapp when his allergies flair up. During ragweed season is the worst, but Dimetapp helps him feel better within just a few mintues of taking it. He likes the grape flavor. My other son takes it for his colds, as well. We have tried other brands, even less expensive brands, but Dimetapp is the only medicine from over the counter that takes away the symptoms of their colds and/or allergies. I have started taking it as well when I get a cold. The label says children's, but I would recommend anyone to take it.
