I have used the Atkins diet to lose weight several times but when I add carbs back into my diet, I gain the weight back and usually more. I can follow the diet for several months but it is not a lifetime change for me. I feel fruits and whole grains need to be in my diet in larger quantities than the diet allows. For a few weeks, omlettes, salads and cheese taste so good. I start losing weight immediately. I love being able to eat steak, chicken wings and blue cheese salad dressing while losing weight. It reinforces common sense things about foods and good choices and teaches you a few things you didn't already know. The big key to my success with the program was having to get on that scale every week and have someone record my weight and put it down in writing. It teaches you lifestyle changes and things will stick with you even if you fall of program. Weight Watchers works if you work the plan. I have lost 20 pounds on the plan and I eat what I fix my family...just smaller portions. I have been on WW several times and it always works. My problem is ME. I get lazy and don't count my points or plan my menu or I go out to eat and forget about WW when I see the pictures of yummy food! I was caught off guard when the big box of Nutrisystem meals arrived for the first time about 8 months ago. However, skeptical me was really pleasantly surprised upon eating the first entree, Ravioli with meat sauce. It was good. Even better is the site offers chat and 1800 support 24/7 with no need to go weigh in. I don't have time to "weigh in" as other programs require. The plan focuses on relearning common sense eating.
