Diddy Riese is an institution in Los Angeles. If I was a student at University of California, Los Angeles, I would have to put limits on how often I could go there.
Although they recently raised their price (I think its now a dollar and a quarter), Diddy Riese serves perfectly portioned ice cream sandwiches for a very cheap price. They have freshly baked cookies in an assortment of flavors...my favorites are the chocolate chip and the M&M cookies. I like to mix and match and get one of each. I've also heard that the sugar cookies and oatmeal rasin are delicous too. Then you get to pick...
review »Although they've raised their prices, Diddy Riese is still a bargain!
An LA institution, for sure, there's always a line to get their ice cream sandwiches. You get to choose the ice cream and the 2 cookies. Their cookies are freshly baked daily and it's fun to mix and match the combinations (I always like chocolate or vanilla ice cream with chocolate chip cookies, but I've tried most of them). For $1.25, it's still a great deal. And even if there's a long line of UCLA students waiting for their sweet treats, the line dose move fast.
They're also open late, so you can go to a movie or an event at...
review »My friend and I wanted to grab a quick snack in Westwood so we decided to stop by Diddy Riese for a round of hot delicious cookies. Talking about authentically fresh, buttery, delicious and cheap! My cookies were three for $1 and my still warm double chocolate with walnuts had a brownie texture with bits of dark chocolate for a deep chocolaty taste. There were chunks of walnuts to provide a crunchy texture to complement the ultra soft cookie and the whole thing just fell apart naturally with every bite. My second choice, white chocolate with macadamia nuts is my all time favorite, and it was sweet...
review »I willingly go out of my way to go to Westwood - and I'm a Trojan! - for these cookies. Although I miss the 25-cent price, 3 for $1 is still worth it. I've only maybe had the ice cream sandwich once, but I've been going to Diddy's for 16 wonderful years now.
Are these the best cookies in the world? No. But certainly good enough to sneak into the movies, or enjoy after a meal at any of the restaurants nearby.
Sometimes, I test myself just how long I can make a dozen last. If I can get through 2 days without emptying the bag, it's an accomplishment!
UCLA hangout where they have the best and cheapest cookies around town. Cookies are soft and always freshly baked. Ice cream sandwiches are to die for. Take home 3 cookies for a dollar or a dozen and freeze them for later. Totally worth the trip down to Westwood - good luck parking though.
Didi Reese is a great place for a cheap dessert. Plan on standing in line for 15 minutes. Wish the ice cream was something more unique than dryers, but hey where can you get a homemade ice cream sandwich for 2 bucks?
Don't let the line scare you, this place is incredible - get the peanut butter cookie with chocolate ice cream and you're in Heaven!
