After making my own cloth diapers, I discovered rather quickly that making my own waterproof diaper covers was not working. I tried an older version of a Diaperaps diaper cover, but had a bad experience. In response to that review the president of Diaperaps offered to send me two free samples. Click here to see my review of the other free sample.

What I like about Diaperaps Poly Bright Waterproof Diaper Cover:

  • Holds leaks--even if the cloth diaper was completely soaked, the baby's clothes were dry.
  • Excellent workmanship--this is also true of other Diaperaps products I have tried.
  • Improved design with elastic around legs with an extra seam that allows room for the cloth diaper--this one also has an extra panel of polyester to help prevent leaks at the stitch line. I have a large size recommended for babies 21-27 pounds and it fits very well with lots of extra room for my baby that weighs about 20 pounds.
  • Made in the U.S.A. from 100% polyester laminated to polyurethane--the diaper actually stretches similar to a disposable diaper
  • Hook and loop closure that looks like a soft velcro--this is helpful because you don't have to completely remove pants or shorts to change the diaper.
  • Cute choice of colors and prints--the baby picked out this bright red/orange one right away and wanted to wear it as soon as it arrived in the mail.
  • More environmentally friendly than disposable diapers.
  • Ultimately less expensive than disposable diapers.
  • Easy care--The tag says you can machine wash warm and tumble dry low. I have only hand-washed this one because I'm afraid I'll have the dryer set too high and am afraid it might shrink. It is recommended to close the diaper before laundering and to avoid using Oxyclean or bleach.
  • The president of Diaperaps, Rachael Flug, offered me this diaper cover for free after reading my review on an older version of Diaperaps diaper covers. She was quite professional and was certainly taking a chance because I tend to write my honest opinion regarding products. If I had another bad experience, I would certainly have written about that as well!

The Negative Side:

  • the cost--$9.75/cover if ordering six or more (this price is in comparable with other diaper cover prices online)
  • cannot find in stores around my home

My Viewpoint:

I think that if I were starting over with children that I would have used cloth diapers and covers with all of my kids, and I would definitely consider Diaperaps. Cloth diapers are more environmentally friendly and ultimately can save a LOT of money. This Diaperaps Poly Bright Waterproof Diaper Cover has excellent workmanship, is waterproof, and fits very well. If I have a negative first impression of a product, I would hesitate to try the company again, but I am quite impressed with the professionalism of Diaperaps' president and am pleasantly surprised with the new and greatly improved design of their diaper covers.

NOTE: the reviewer indicated that they received a sample of Diaperaps Poly Bright Waterproof Diaper Cover Diapers

In response to GigiandAdonai's comment from Jul 5, 2009 at 10:07PM:

The rep sent me a brochure and it listed those two options as well as an organic cotton one (at $10.75), so I thought it might be best to put them into two different reviews. Some people may be looking for diaper covers made of specific material or might want to compare experiences with each one. If I were to buy one, I'd probably flip a coin because they were so similar to me, but some people may be very specific in what type of material they prefer.

Oh, no! It wasn't the pics that confused me. I think that is neat. I was just confused when I went straight from one to the other and I was trying to figure out the difference. Not because of your reviews but wondering how the company rep considered them two different samples. Your comment explained it all. I wouldn't worry about changing the main photo on either review.

I goofed when I was putting up my main photo and accidentally put the same one twice, but the two diapers are different. One is cotton while the other is a cotton/polyester blend. One has an added pocket to try to stop leaks at the seam line while the other does not. They are very similar in that they both seem to fit well and stop leaks and seem to have quality workmanship. I probably ought to contact Meredith about seeing if I can get someone to take down the main photo in the one with the solid-colored one so I can put the correct picture up. I was thinking she was going to be out of town for the holiday so I figured I'd ask about that later. Thanks for mentioning about the confusion.

These sound great too but without putting the reviews side by side I don't actually understand how the two products differ. That is this, and the previously reviewed diaper cover. Unless of course it's the pattern availability on the aforementioned.
