I made my own cloth diapers but could not find suitable material for making a waterproof diaper cover, so I began looking for one that was store-made. I had tried an older version of a Diaperaps diaper cover and did like the convenience of the hook and loop closure and workmanship, but it shrunk and leaked. The president of Diaperaps, Rachael Flug, contacted me as a response to that review and offered to send me two free samples. One sample that she sent me was a Diaperaps Cotton Blend Diaper Cover. Click here to see my review on the other free sample.

What I like about this Diaperaps Cotton Blend Diaper Cover:

  • Holds leaks MUCH better than the older style
  • Great workmanship (this was true of the older one too) and made in the U.S.A.
  • Improved design (in addition to fitted elastic around the legs, extra room is provided for the cloth diaper)
  • Material actually stretches (the baby found this very comfortable)--it is 60% cotton and 40% polyester and laminated to polyurethane
  • Hook and loop closure (similar to Velcro but softer--this is convenient because you don't have to completely remove pants to change the diaper)
  • Cute choice of colors and prints (I realize that the diaper cover is usually covered with clothing but as my baby has gotten older, she wants to pick her clothes and particularly likes bright colors)
  • More environmentally friendly than disposable diapers
  • I'll be honest--I've only hand-washed this diaper cover. I'm afraid I might forget to set my dryer on low and am afraid of shrinking this one. The tag says you can machine wash warm and tumble dry low. The tag recommends closing the diaper when laundering and to avoid using bleach or OxyClean.
  • The president of the company stands behind her product, is also a mother who used cloth diapers, and is quite professional and generous in offering me free samples--She did not ask me to write another review and I would have written another negative review if I had a bad experience with the free samples!

The Negative Side:

The only negative side to cloth diapers is the cost--$9.75/cover if ordering six or more, but this price is in line with other diaper covers I have seen online. I know that disposable diapers cost more in the long run, but purchasing cloth diapers and covers is a rather large up-front initial investment.

I like to look at what I am purchasing before buying it, and cloth diapers and accessories are not sold in stores within 100 miles of my home. I was afraid of gambling on something that I might purchase online. My baby has very skinny legs and I was afraid I might purchase a diaper cover that would not hug her legs properly, but the design of this diaper cover seems to allow for a variety of leg sizes with the elastic. I have a medium size that is recommended for babies 16-21 pounds. My baby weighs 20 pounds, and this one fits very well.

My Viewpoint:

I was pleasantly surprised with the much improved design of Diaperaps Cotton Blend Waterproof Diaper Covers. They fit well, hold leaks, are convenient with a hook and loop design, and are available in a variety of colors and prints. The price is a bit high but is comparable to other diaper covers--some are actually much more expensive.

I was particularly impressed with the president of Diaperaps. She stands behind her product. My baby is almost ready for potty training, but if I were looking for a cloth diaper cover in the future, I would definitely consider purchasing products from Diaperaps.

Thanks! My daughter actually likes wearing these and I really like not having to buy disposable diapers as much as in the past.
