Chicken's healthier, for heaven's sake!

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about DiGiorno Crispy Flatbread Pizza - Tuscan Style Chicken:

I stopped going to our local pizza house when I realized that everyone there was overweight and gaining.  That's when frozen pizzas entered my life.  The frozens are hardly comparable with the real thing *but*, in the case of this **DiGiorno Crispy Flatbread Pizza - TUSCAN Style CHICKEN, **there's a tasty and relatively healthy meal to be had.

The 14-inch **TUSCAN** supposedly bakes at a pre-heated 400' for 11-14 minutes.  Since I'm using my very handy *Procter Silex Toaster/Pizza Oven** instead of my big one, I've upped both the temp and the time to get the crispy-crusted meal I want.

The **TUSCAN** officially has three servings per container.  Each serving has *300 calories; 14g Total Fat (6g Sat* and *1g Trans); 35mg Cholesterol; 700mg Sodium; 28g Total Carbs* with *3g Dietary Fiber* and *3g Sugars;* and enough *protein (16g)* to get me up on my feet and burning some of that fat off right after the meal.

Although I'm not particularly aware of the spinach listed on the box (it looks like spinach "powder" to me), I look forward to the grilled white-meat chicken, oven-roasted tomatoes, garlic, and red sauce in the remaining servings tomorrow and the day after.  The 100% real (duh!) cheese is the only real disappointment -- thin and runny and without character.  I could easily do without it.

This is the best of the **DiGiorno **line I've tried so far.  The disappointing cheese *would* be an ample anchor for extras such as artichoke hearts, sauteed peppers, onions, etc.  (An extra serving of veggies can never hurt.)

* *This combination toaster/pizza oven continues to work so well for us.  If another of your toaster ovens has bitten the dust, please read my review and consider the *Procter Silex*.*
