This is by far the most interesting series I have watched since Buffy The Vampire Slayer or Angel. You find yourself looking to Dexter, the serial killer, as the good guy, and praying that he doesn't fall into the hands of the police. It rasies moral questions about justice and capital punishment, love, romance, betrayal, and a whole slew of emotions that other series just can't deliver.
The character Dexter is complicated, easy to fall in love with, and, above all, a sociopath. His character has a morbid sense of humor that you can't help laughing at, yet the things he does makes you cringe. The police force he works with has no idea that he is the killer they have been searching for. The plot never strays away from the main story, there are no "filler episodes" that you can easily skip and not loose track of the plot, and you are always in suspense when the episode ends.
The only thing that people may not like about Dexter is that there is a lot of swearing, naked bodies, dead bodies, violence, and sex. They never show anything ghastly horrible, but there are some things that might not be ok for light hearted people to watch.
