Dewalt 9.6 volt cordless drill —

Everyone seems to favor 18 volt cordless drills but for all but the heaviest of construction projects I prefer Dewalt's 9.6 volt model DC750 for its lighter weight and better ergonomics. It comes with a spare battery so when one runs low there is another waiting. Battery life is good but using at full power for extended periods of time will drag it down eventually - a fair tradeoff for not having a heavy cord in the way.

The strongest asset of this drill to me is the overall feel and handling. It isn't clunky in the least and it fits my hand and handles very intuitively, which is something I appreciate on longer projects. Let's face it, building fences and the like isn't fun to begin with, every little bit helps. This drill has been the only one I've used since I got it a few years ago. I own a 14.4 volt Ryobi which now gathers dust.

Dewalt's drill bit packages are better than others I've tried. I haven't broken one yet.

They both make great Christmas presents!

I love this shovel. The years I've spent leaning over and grabbing endless handfuls of leaves, my head about to explode from the blood trapped in my ears, are gone for good. I would seriously recommend trying it before you decide to cut the poor old tree. Trees enhance our lives in so many ways and we tend to miss them when they're gone.

Thanks for the comment!

I am glad I seen this now I can quit doing the same long teedy chore and get all the leaves up quickly. I was actually theinking about cutting the tree down but now I will have to check this out. The idea of removing the tree was reall getting to me and I have been debating the idea for about two years. Now I do not have to. Thanks

I'm getting the Dewalt when our clunky B&D quits, or maybe even before it does.

It's funny how just a little difference in proportion can make such a big difference i a tool.

I tried to reply to your Clapton email but i don't think it sent. I keep having to reconnect to the internet today.

Also, when I click "send" the screen turns grey but never goes back to white.

I don't have this drill ~ I like the lighter aspect, since a heavy and clunky drill is what I avoid. I know what I'm going to check out when it's time for replacing mine. Spare batts are very important. Great review.
