There are plenty of attractions to please most travelers. There is a wide variety of things to do. It is possible to walk to avoid traffic problems. Downtown parking is very expensive, especially if you want to visit several places. However, you can get a one day or a few days CTA visitor pass and use public transportation very inexpensively, plus there are free streetcars to various tourist locales. There are plenty of places to eat and shop. Navy Pier is one of the attractions that makes the visit to Chicago very worthwhile. The Shedd Aquarium is outstanding. City passes can be purchased to… read full review »

My family just visited Maui. We have been to Oahu and the big island which are all great destination places.  I use a web site called virbo.com for most of our vacations. They offer condo's and houses from individually owned people.  I found Hale Ono Loa #409 on virbo and decided it looked like the best place in Maui for the price.  What a find! The pictures on the website could not do it justice.  It was directly on the ocean with all the kitchen supplies and all the linens provided. We stayed for 10 days and enjoyed the view and the community which you… read full review »

The tram experience can be very frightening if windy. The trams are also not spacious enough for people that don't like closed in places. On the other hand, the view when you make it to the top is awesome. It is a historical site. The areas around the Arch are also nice to visit, which makes the visiting experience better. The wait can be long to go up. The location along the river and surrounding park is… read full review »

In my experience, the downside was too many hills. Overall, I had a great experience. Our family went during World Fest, and the entertainment was very interesting and lots of fun. For a theme park, the prices were okay, and the souvenirs were not way overpriced, which made it part of our great experience. There is a good variety of rides to satisfy individual likes. The staff was very helpful. The variety of entertainment is good. The walking distance between attractions is not bad. I loved it.… read full review »

Seattle is a very trendy city that is very diverse and rich with historical maritime memorabilia.  It is a nice city but the weather is often unpredictable and it is rainy and cold most of the year.  It makes it difficult if you suffer from Seasonal Depression or if you simply do not like the rain.  If you enjoy wearing rain gear, Seattle has a lot to offer, so stop at one of the million Starbucks a get a hot cup of coffee and roam around the Puget Sound area.  There is a lot to see and a lot to do, if you go during the summertime where it's warmer and less rain! … read full review »

Maui No Ka Oi!  Visit Maui if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and if you want to just relax!  Maui is very laid back so leave the fancy clothes behind, pack casual clothes, and don't be afraid to step away from McDonald's and Outback to try some local… read full review »

Being from the Southwest, I recently had the opportunity to visit a small Island off the coast of North Carolina:  Bald head island.  — The island is densly populated, sparse, and contains a stark beauty unlike anything I'd ever seen before.  Our sleeping quarters were also excellent.   — Take a walk along the sandy beaches and let your worries fade for a while.  —… read full review »

Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park

JUL

When I shared my photographs of Glacier National Park with one friend, he said "what is this -- the most beautiful place on earth?" There really are so many spectacular sights to see in this wonderful park. I highly recommend it. — We took the Amtrak train to get to Glacier. The Chicago-to-Seattle route stops right near the park. So we had a wonderful trip out west, seeing the sights outside the lounge car window as we went. And then we were able to get right off the train, pick up our rental car and head to our destination. At the park, we camped in a primitive… read full review »

Mon Dieu!  It's Affordable Europe, and only a few hours hours away! — I have spent time in Quebec, so jumped at the chance to enjoy a press trip to Montreal.  I was so busy, though, I didn't have time to do any research, much less bone up on French.  None of that mattered, however.  Everyone in Montreal speaks fluent English as well as French (and many speak other languages as well; French Canadians have great educations).  — A beautiful, historic Island — Montreal is actually an island in the middle of the St. Lawrence… read full review »

We spent a week in Cozumel, Mexico this past April.  My husband and I had never been there before, but most of the members of our 15+ group were returning to the island for their second, third, and fifth year.  After spending a week on the island, I absolutely love it and am hoping to return there again next spring. — As a small island off the coast of mainland Mexico, the island can be broken up into four distinct parts: the main "downtown" section, the rest of the town of San Miguel, the southern resort area, and the eastern, uninhabited side.  Cozumel is known mostly… read full review »

Built originally in 27 A.D., and then rebuilt in 120 A.D. after several fires, by the Roman Emperor Hadrian, the temple was built to honor all the gods that the Romans worshiped. This incredible structure was said to have influenced the erection of the Florence cathedral dome which launched the renaissance era of architecture, and even the Capitol Dome in Washington DC.  — Looking like many other marble columned buildings of it's time from the outside, the inside is said to be a perfect radius design, and a 142 foot ball would fit perfectly inside the structure.  A task to be… read full review »

My husband and I went to try the new water park before we took the kids.  We upgraded our two year Sea World pass to include the Aquatica park, so we took advantage of the free parking and early entry.  We went on Saturday - June 28, 2008 - for reference. — If you are a two year passport member, you canenter the park at 8am, and enjoy 2 of the smaller slides early, however the rest of the park and the best slides do not open until 9am.  We did notice that everyone got board around 8:30 or so beacuse they had their chairs, their lockers, had riden the 2 slides and were… read full review »

Magnificent Mile - Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois

Magnificent Mile - Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois

Let's be honest. I'm not the kind of person who typically shops at Tiffany's. I'm a mother of teenagers who enjoys traveling, but our family budget is modest. Nonetheless, I had a wonderful time browsing the stores on the Magnificent Mile with my daughters. There is so much to see here, and you can spend days visiting all the stores. We enjoyed looking at the designer fashions, unusual gifts, the jewelry, the shoes and purses in the top-of-of-the-line stores along the mile. My personal favorite was Nieman Marcus, which offers merchandise in all of these categories. We enjoyed… read full review »

Number 1 Travelers tip:  Save lots o' money before you land at Heathrow Airport, cause merry ol' England will bankrupt you fast enough to make your head spin!  Aside from that, it's a wonderful place to travel to.  Where I found the best bargains in Great Britain were on the web, because you can get affordable "American" type prices before you arrive and have to deal with the oppressive exchange rate.  And when I say oppressive, I'm not exaggerating.  I found my hotel online, and got a great rate right next to Hyde Park, bought theater tickets online, and saved a… read full review »
