I got the Intel Mac Mini as a birthday present when it first came out with the Intel processor. I use it for everything. It's great because it is sooooo quiet (it replaced a noisy PowerMac G4), and yet has the power to handle lots of concurrent tasks. — I recently purchased a second one, that I use for a media computer connected to our TV. We're currently living in an area without much TV service, but I can podcast my favorite programs to fill in the void. I bought the emachine T5230 in February of this year. It is the first computer I have owned although I have had access to and used many different types. I bought the computer on-line and was not familiar with the brand name but I got a good deal. I would have to say that overall I am pleased with the machine and it's capabilities. I had mine customized and was able to get everything I wanted in it for a great price. The customer service is Excellent!! Windows Vista had a few issues at first but when the internet was hooked up to it it could update itself and the quirks worked their way out. I did have to replace the hard drive about a month after using it but was able to bring it back up using the computer's recovery mode and was able to save my files to a disk. The MAC mini has been a great replacement server for my old Windows 2003 box. It performs like a champ and with little to no maintenance. I've had it running for over a year now (on 24/7 hosting several websites) and I have not had any problems. I Upgraded the Ram to 2 gig and other than that I haven't done a thing to it. I use a regular "pc" mouse, a mac wireless keyboard and a sony monitor. It is the only server on my network of 2 laptops and 2 PC's. I'd never laid fingers to a MAC before my husband purchased two for us last month. I've been a loyal Gateway customer until the last one started crapping out a year before the 3 year extended warranty was up, and they gave me problems about fixing it. I said "no more!" and started looking at the iMAC. I love it! Easy to learn, easy to use, so many options, and I can still use Microsoft Office on it, which is important to me, because I do work that requires Word. — What's not to love? Most cases I can take care of issues on my own but the Dell has such unusual problems, I am constantly on the phone with tech support. I turned my computer on one morning and got nothing but a blank screen and a mouse arrow. I was on the phone with Gateway Support for several hours on and off with different people. The bottom line is the hard drive is dead and I have to send the computer back to Gateway. They'll install a new hard drive and I'll loose all the files and pictures that were on the computer. This will take 3-4 weeks.They did send me a box to return the computer in but the box was configured for sending back a desktop tower and the The "One" wouldn't fit in it.… read full review »
