Denim & Co Modern waist stretch denim shorts Review

OK so two weeks ago I ate too much at a family dinner.  It was a stressful day as we were discussing my brother's divorce and the awfulness that goes along with that and I comforted myself with about 10 too many penne noodles.  I had to unzip.

When I got up off of the couch to leave my brother's house I broke my zipper.  I broke the zipper on my favorite shorts.  The only pair of shorts that fits me well and look good and the accident left me with only one pair of shorts left.  I looked all over for a replacement pair but found nothing.  Have you ever tried to buy shorts at the end of August?  It's hard to find anything but hoochie mama shorts in June so I knew my odds at finding conservative shorts in August were slim to none.  I looked everywhere and even tried Ebay but could not replace the shorts.

So I checked on QVC.com and saw that the Denim & Company brand had their Modern Waist Stretch Shorts on sale for about $20.  A bit pricey for me but I was desperate and ordered two pair; one in dark sandblast which is that classic denim blue with little bits of white and the other in antique denim which is a lighter, more faded blue.

The material is very thin, much thinner than regular denim, so they are very comfortable to wear in hot weather as they are not heavy or thick.   These shorts also contain 2% spandex so they give a little when bending or sitting which is more comfortable than regular denim. 

The inseam is 8" which is very conservative on me as I'm very short (5 feet) and my inseam is only 27" to begin with.  I was a bit worried that the inseam would be too short as I usually wear Bermudas but it's actually just perfect.  When I stand up they reach the top of my kneecap so none of my flab hangs out. 

The modern waist is also very nice.  Again, because I'm so short, I usually have issues with the waist coming up too high and rolling over or looking bunchy because it was too long but with these shorts the waist is right where it should be - right at my natural waist.  Not below it on my hips, not above it up under my girls, but right at my natural waist. 

I never have a problem with Denim & Company.  The workmanship is good, they use high quality fabrics and there are never any shrinkage issues. I knew the second I placed the order for these shorts that they would fit good, launder nicely, and not shrink up and that is exactly the case.  I've washed both pairs of shorts a few times already and they've held up well and come out nice and soft.
