They have a "Do Not Rent To" List

1

I'll make this simple and to the point.  I was the first to return my car that day.  I left my ear buds in the car (you know, for hands free talking on the cell phone).  While on the shuttle to the terminal, I called and asked if they could get them and mail them to me.  They said they have them and would.  Of course I got the name of the guy I talked to.  Well after about a month of calling and asking about them, escalating it to the General Manager, I was told that they would credit my credit card for the amount of the ear buds.  I get my statement and they DID credit my account!!  Great!  Then I look and they charged me for them also!?!?!  It also happened that I got my ear buds in the mail THAT day.  Wow!  Ok, Cool.  They did what they said they would.  I'll rent from them again.  I make my reservation, got to the office, stand in line for about 20 min. give the clerk my license and I'm told that he can't rent to me.  Of course I'm confused and pissed.  Give me the manager!  The manager comes over with an 'I want to help you' look on his face.  He types in my license number and he said, "Oh, you're on our 'do not rent to' list".  It's a list of problem customers that we don't want to rent to anymore. Who else is on this list?  Is it just for people of a certain race? Religion? Nationality?  Sounds like discrimination to me.

If you want bad experience to spoil your trip, rent from Deluxe

I travelled a lot with my family.  Naturally I tried to choose the safest and best, preferably cheaper than others. Deluxe online ads was very attractive. I have hundreds of experience renting from various rental cars and I never experienced any problem. I didnt expect from this too. How wrong I was. I chose Deluxe for my US trip December 2009 till Jan 2010 which started in LAX.  The guidelines in their online print out was not detailed but informative enough. We were picked up by Johny parks van and then taken to the car location. That is where the good impression ended. Deluxe location was not in the main area for rental car. The numbers and models of car available was not as described in their ads. The employees did not appear motivated, and worked slowly. One guy was not doing anything and just standing there while I and 2 other passengers waited to be served. Later I asked this guy if he was free and only then, he asked me if he could help. The car they gave me was a Dodge which guzzled the gasoline like thirsty monster. Everything they said about available Japanese Car were lies. I didnt see any Toyota, Honda or Nissan in their parking lot. If I wanted to upgrade, he only had a mercedes which was not what I needed. At the end of my 14 days trip, it took me 90 minutes which should be only 5 minutes just to find the location which happens because they put the wrong address in their print out. They then proceeded to charge me on the 2 hour extra. They did not give the details and just printed the total which I couldnt argue considering my very limited remaining time. If you are attracted to their price, you can forget it.  The saving that they promised would come very expensive.

This place is cheap, and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. If you are used to driving 10 yr old cars, then this might actually be a good experience, but for most vacationers and business travelers you will be sorely  disappointed.I'm a frequent traveler. I've rented cars hundreds of times from most major rental agencies over the last 10 years, and I have never seen anything even close to as bad as Deluxe. The car was literally dangerous to drive. To start with, they did not have the Toyota I reserved, even though it was early in the day, and they should not have been sold out. Instead, they "upgraded" me to a PT Cruiser convertible for an extra $5 / day. The top would not close, even the attendant struggled with it because it was bent. I took this car out, and had to get gas right away because it was less than half tank. While I was fueling, I noticed that all four tires were bald. Way past wear markers. The left rear actually had steel belts protruding! So I took it back. They didn't argue about giving me a different car. The tires on the replacement were not much better, but at least the belts weren't showing. The clerk marked the rental as being on "empty", thinking she was doing me a favor. (free gas). But when I pulled out, I realized that the tank was actually below empty, so I had to scramble to the nearest gas station. The plate was expired on this car as well, so lucky I didn't get stopped by police. The car was riddled with body damage, at check out time I marked numerous spots on the damage report and had them initial it. Because of the bald tires, I nearly lost control of the car in a rain storm. The interior of the car was filthy! My wife's coat was stained from touching the upholstery.Desk clerk was very polite to me, but I witnessed others being very rude to some Asian customers. But the entire process was brutally slow. From pickup at LAX to finally getting into the 2nd car and filling with gas it was almost 4 hours. Basically this discount car agency cost me a half day of my vacation. To end the rental, the shuttle bus driver dropped us off at the wrong end of LAX, so we had to walk for 15 minutes to get to our airline.Had it not been a holiday weekend, I would have refused this car rental but I didn't really have much choice because everyone else was booked.Unless you literally cannot afford a "real" car rental agency, don't even think about renting from this dump

In my opinion.....this is a criminal operation. I believe they engage in false advertisement and deceptive practices On 06/05/07 I rented from Deluxe Rent-A-Car. I was rented a nasty car and had to take it as I had been dropped. It had a leaky tire, 3mo expired and was pulled over by the police When stranded I called the manager on duty refused to give me his name. When I refused to pay for this vehicle and wrote "I refuse this charge", After Ifiled a formal dispute so they reprinted the invoice and they forged my signature and faxed it to  B of A Visa Their site promises "...arrive at our office they can be assured that there will be friendly and courteous service awaiting them." -management to this day has never returned a call. They also "Guarantee" - *"**When you rent with Deluxe Rent A Car you are guaranteed a vehicle that is clean, comfortable and affordable." *- My car was foul and disgusting This is what I got: Is located at deluxerentacar with a ".info" site the video is at youtube's site under deluxerentacar **  Vehicle Code CVC 4000 (1)** *No Person* shall drive, move, or leave standing upon a highway or in an off-street public parking facility, any motor vehicle, trailer, simi-trailer, pole or pipe dolly or logging dolly, unless the appropriate fees have been paid under this code. ***THIS CAR BEING 3 Months out of registration could clearly not be legally driven and should not have been rented***   **Better Business Bureau info**:  "Complaints allege failure to honor reservations for vehicles, failure to reimburse customers as offered, and poor customer service. ... they find the company does not have the requested type vehicle or any vehicles at all. ...agrees to reimburse customers the difference. When customers attempt to receive the reimbursement or contact the company they are unable to receive assistance or reimbursement. ...the company files false damage claims for damages that were already on the vehicle prior to rental... deposits are not refunded and failure to assist customers with their disputes."  http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportExtensionPage.aspx?CompanyID=13186220&sm=  Deluxe's  president* "John P Hennessay" *response to the rental of this scummy dirty illegal vehicle was the following.....* **"**We apologize for the condition of the car that was rented to Mr Powell.** Sometimes we run very low on cars and we have to rent out cars waiting to be registered.** Mr Powell was a local renter so he should have asked to swap out the car when another car was available."  He takes no responsibility* for his direct violation of **Vehicle Code CVC 4000(1)**  I believe the relationship with carrental.com should be investigated, as that is the booking agency and collects fees from Deluxe. The transparency of their relationship is not apparent as they maintain the #1 position searches of "car, rental, LAX" as much as 551,000 hits/mo on yahoo alone- **but they allow only positive statements to be posted about Deluxe Rent-A-Car not in direct correlation with the outpour of complaints maintained by independent sites.** That's how I found Deluxe.  Recently Deluxe has changed and only rents to persons who will be leaving LA. This appears to be target marketing for travelers that could never complain.        **More bad reviews at....  ** **Trip Advisor** **Yahoo Local** **Yelp.com** **yellow pages.com**
