My aunt and I recently went to WV ad while the flight there was uneventful, the return flight was a nightmare all around.  There were mechanical delays in Lewisburg,  WV.  which caused us to miss our connecting flight in Atlanta.  The Delta employees were not at all helpful, just left us there after our next  connecting flight at 6:55pm  was full. He told us we were on standby for that flight.  That's not what we were told in Lewisburg.   The rep. there, a man with the first name that starts with an R didn't direct us to what gate or what flight we would be on, only that it was 10:30pm.  Then he left and shut the door, thats it!  We were suppose to fly out of Atlanta at 4:16pm.  So we walked around for awhile thinking we're going to be stuck here forever.  Neither of us had a cell to call home, calling cards were not available at any of the stores we tried, 4 in all.  Finally we stopped at a centralized desk on concourse E, not the information desk there either.  They were rude too, but thats another story.  We spoke with a very pleasant women at Delta,   who told us she would put us on the 8:50pm flight standby and if we couldn't get on that we were definitely on the 10:35pm flight and gave us boarding passes and another pass for the 8:50pm flight.  We went for a bite to eat and headed out to concourse A, quite a large airport, and arrived there just in time to see our names on the standby list.  We got on that flight without a hitch.  My question is why didn't the first rep at Gate #E36 give us that information and treat us as this other Delta employee did, with respect.  It wasn't our fault our first flight was delayed.  I realize it's a busy airport, but some of the employees need customer service training or another job.  I work in a Library and we could never treat our patrons that way.
