I was quite sick over the winter with a continual cough, swollen glands, and congestion. I had prescription cough medicine, but my doctor only wanted me to take it in the evening, so I would not be drowsy all day. I tried the Delsym for several days and my cough was much worse, and it did not help at all. I felt like I was drinking candy in a liquid form, and the amount of sugar I was drinking made my mouth so dry. I was so upset I wasted the money on something that was useless and made me feel worse. I am in shock that my doctor even recommended this product. It may work for some people, but I personally do not plan on buying this for anyone in my family ever again. I prefer Mucinex any day over Delsym. But, in some cases an over the counter cough syrup is not going to help anyone if your symptoms have worsened and you need something stronger. I do not like anything that just "masks" the symptoms, I want to be able to function.

Delsym Cough Suppressant is wonderful! A couple of years ago, my son and I kept getting sick (he had just started school and I was working there). Every single time he would get sick, he would cough so hard that he threw up. We tried using an antihistamine and it worked okay but he would still have bouts of coughing that were terrible. Another Mom at school told me that their pediatrician recommended Delsym Cough Suppressant. I had heard of it before but never used it. I said "are you sure that it's safe for kids?" At the time my son was 5. I went to the store and looked at the box and found that it's safe for kids age 4 and up. I just couldn't believe it (because of the big issue made recently about medicine not helping kids under age 6). I decided I would try it first since I had a nasty cough and it stopped it so I gave some to my son. It stopped his cough as well. I just love this medicine! I have found it very reliable. The only time that it hasn't worked was when I had the flu (it did however help my son when he had the flu). It is awesome!
