The Dell Inspiron has a powerful processor and a lot of memory, making it a good multitasking computer. i use as an internet machine and old games (half life 1) and its performance is very good and performs like a brand new computer. i also made a fresh install of xp professional and it is butter smooth even on the celeron d 325

This was the first computer purchase I have made in 6 years. The overall performance is good. I have two minor issues. The first is that there are so many different things pre loaded on the computer that I don't want. I don't know if other brands do this either. The second is just that I am not at all familiar with windows 8. But overall I am pretty satisfied with the computer.

When I first bought my dell it was awesome! Had great running speed, awesome graphics, and awesome sound. However shortly after beginning to use it, everything went wrong. My sound would drop out for periods of time almost every day. It would come back on it's own later but never when you needed it. It began running very slowly and was a pain to fix. Everything had to be dell approved or it wouldn't work. Just not worth the time and effort I had to put into it.

I really liked this computer because it was snappy and compatible with my applications, plus it came in a variety of colors, including orange, my favorite. It was well designed and easily upgradable, but the motherboard failed after just 3 years. Ease of Use It worked right out the box and needed no customization. Dell set it up to play media and burn DVDs right out of the box. The operating system, Windows 7, was intuitively clear to the user and Dell set everything up to work easily from the start. Hardware Quality It seemed quite good until the motherboard simply died. I think the BIOS quit, and there was no way I could repair that myself because the BIOS is soldered in and not easily replaced. Support & Service Dell has great customer service, especially when it comes to asking questions and customizing a purchase, but the computer was past its warranty when the failure occurred, so I fixed it myself by replacing the motherboard myself. However, they answered my questions so that i knew what to do to make the repair. Durability The motherboard should have lasted longer than 3 yrs, considering how infrequently the computer was used. I expect at least 5 years even in a computer used every day. Design Very clever modular design making changes and upgrades easy with a minimum of tools, but some things are proprietary, like the motherboard front panel connectors, so I had to fashion my own connectors when I replaced the motherboard. Performance Before the motherboard failure, it performed great. I found its speed remarkable hen transferring a movie file to a USB drive to give to a friend.

This is a good basic home computer for web browsing, email, storing photos and videos and viewing videos. Also good for word processing. I had been pleased with my old Dell PC, but I had it for over 5 years and it had just become obsolete. I have a very definite opinion about which companies are good for which kinds of products and I recommend Dell for PCs specifically. (However, I would not recommend Dell for laptops or printers.) So, I decided to buy a Dell PC and I got as much RAM as I could afford at the time. And this computer has turned out to be the little workhorse I was hoping it would be. It gets turned on in the am and does not get turned off until about 11 p.m., after I have had a chance to run at least one virus control program. We have family photos and videos stored on it and I have several email accounts that I check daily on it. As far as browsing, it is very fast and it is a pleasure to use. I have found this to be a very sturdy, reliable computer. It has also kind of replaced our TV. The monitor which came with it, which is also a Dell, has a larger screen than the TV in our bedroom. Since we usually watch either Hulu or DVDs, the Dell gets used the most for TV viewing. Also, has been a good computer for the kids to do school assignments on. Ease of Use This PC is very easy to use. The keyboard is comfortable and very responsive. The computer is fast when it comes to web searches. We have enough memory to store photos and videos and documents. Hardware Quality I would say that the hardware quality is excellent and that even with heavy use, we have had no problems with it. Support & Service Dell does offer good support to customers. I have called several times with issues relating to viruses and gotten good support. I did not give a 10 because some of the support is not from the USA and therefore there can sometimes be a communication problem with staff from India, the etc. However, if you do get a tech person from another country, I would get off the phone with them quickly and call back. 9 times out 10 you get a tech person from the USA and that usually makes the support process faster and more efficient. Durability Have had this computer for 1 1/2 years and it has had constant use all day, everyday from the whole family and has held up well. Design The design is good. There is a DVD disc drive and disc writer and they work well. I gave this computer a 9 on design because there is one USB port in the back which I use for speakers. And then there are only two in the front, which I use for a wireless mouse and a printer. I wish I had one more USB port. I have to unplug my speakers in order to plug in my Apple Ipod, or my basic kindle or my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 for syncing or recharging. Another USB port would prevent that inconvenience. Performance I would say that this Dell outperforms my last one. I can do all my computing, storing and tv watching on it. Also, good for students when they do research or write papers.

I got this PC to go with my old big monitor when I needed a brand new most recent hard drive, and I can't believe how swift and efficient it is! Now I know that newest IS best when it comes to the operating system and getting a computer brand new. It's totally retro just the way I like my technology and hasn't had any problems so far for the whole year that I've had it. Ease of Use Power on with the front button, wait for it to boot up, sign in to my account, and connect to the Internet! I'm always careful not to let any spyware or malware get on it and I don't install any games or programs I don't need because they might mess up the system. Hardware Quality Because it was brand new and the latest version of Windows, it boots up in less than a minute and runs so smoothly I almost don't want to use it for too long in case it might overheat. But it hasn't, it's all clean and fast, and I didn't have a problem adding the keyboard and mouse to it even though it doesn't seem to take the compatible printer or external speakers. I'm sure that's just my printer and the old speakers, though, it won't be like that for everyone and those components aren't crucial for me anyway. Support & Service I haven't needed to contact an actual person because of a problem, but I use the Help and Support program already installed sometimes and it always answers the questions I ask for someone else. I'm sure if I HAD to contact tech support I would be helped. Durability So far the drive hasn't overheated or needed to shut down, and I've been lucky that when there has been a lightning storm where I live or the power has gone out during the recent ice storm nothing bad happened to it. I always unplug the whole thing from the wall AND the phone cord at the first sign of thunder and whenever the power glitches off and on I just turn off the system until it's on permanently. I take good care of the drive and it performs great. Design For being the latest model of a PC tower and most recent Windows operating system, it looks like it's out of 1998 and goes with my old monitors and I LOVE it. Retro! Big and bulky is my tech style and this fits, but keeps up great on the inside! Performance Every time I boot it up it goes fast and smooth, signs me in without a problem, the Internet always connects and doesn't have a problem unless the issues are with the Internet itself and the phone companies. But the drive itself came to me clean and ready to go and I make sure to take care of it so it doesn't have any issues for as long as possible.

I have a dell inspiron but I don't very like it. the only thing that i like is its design. in the other word the programming is simple. withy a compaq presario you cut it restart it and press F9 to reset the computer to an earlier date. However, with this dell you must to cut it off and on until the power button resets the machine. With the tower you can either stand it up which makes the disk drive eject vertically instead of horizontally. Or you can lay it down and sit your monitor on top which does make it a space saver. There is only enough space for one disk drive which does mean that the inspiron is not capable of lightscribe. Which is really awesome if you are disc downloader. But you'll have to wait for that review. Most of the programming that is preinstalled on the Dell Inspiron seams a little outdated.I'm not saying that it is oudated i'm just saying that it about like watching a rerun with a different name.in all,the PC is not very good.
