I bought my MP1210 XPS Dell laptop back in 2006 because I needed it for school. For the first two years, the performance was outstanding. I had no complaints. It was fast, effective and efficient when I needed it to be. However, after the first two years, I started experiencing a LOT of problems. At first, it wasn't as fast as it used to be. It kept freezing on me. I could go online for 20 minutes tops and then it will automatically shut down on its own. I have asked someone to reset all settings, and reprogrammed everything - and it worked for a good two days, and it went back to its horrible performance. I went to the Dell website, and I saw a lot of bad reviews regarding their batteries. To top it off, I bought a brand new battery, an external hard drive. I transferred literally everything to my external hard drive and guess what? The performance is still horrible. I've already spent way too much just to fix my laptop to no avail. My sister bought a Mac about the same time that I did, and she NEVER had any of these problems. When I bought mine, the warranty was only good for one year when everything was okay. The next time around, I will definitely buy a Mac.
