Vista-only really ticks me off.

3

Upgrade the hard drive and put in 4gb of DDR2 RAM. It will run much smoother. Ease of Use Because you can't remove Windows Vista Business for some reason, it really has poor combatibility. It also is very annoying. We cannot install 7 for some reason either. Hardware Quality The pentium dual core is okay, does good on Autocad. Though for CAD I reccomend you get an NVIDIA Quadro FX 570. Because the Intel onboard chip is terrible as always. Support & Service It has vista, what do you expect? Durability It's parts are still in tact, unlike some other PC's we've owned. Design Attractive looking, like it's saying "I'm ready for work!". Whereas actually because of vista it can't really work at all. Performance Again, Vista.

Great for individuals or businesses on a budget

I always recommend the Dell Vostro 220, be it the mini-tower or the slim tower. It is a desktop marketed to the small to medium businesses. They are very cost effective. We usually make sure that they have 4GB of memory for the speed and a 250GB hard drive for storage. If you also get a mid to high quality processor you will have a great tool. I have about 100 clients that have purchased the Vostro 200 and I can honestly say that there have not been any issues with the desktop. If you ask any of the small businesses that use the Vostro 200, they will tell you that the computer is well worth its cost. If you need a new computer that works well but don't have a lot of money to spend, then I recommend the Vostro 200.

Dell Vostro 200 Desktop

4

If you're looking for a great desktop computer then I recommend checking out the Dell Vostros 200 desktop computer. It's very reliable and user friendly. It's sleek and doesn't take up a lot of room. Its Dell so you know it has a good reputation. Mine came with a 20 inch monitor which is crispy clear. The computer is very fast and good at multitasking. I can have multiple windows open at the same time and it does not influence the speed. It came with an optical mouse and a quiet keyboard. The speakers that came with the desktop computer sound terrific. I mostly use this computer for surfing the net. I don't use it for gaming so I can't recommendit for that, but for surfing the net it is more than sufficient. I purchased a three year warranty with my Dell Vostro 200 Desktop, but so far I haven't needed it. I also purchased norton internet security to protect my computer from internet threats, and it seem to do a very good job. Overall I highly recommend this computer

Dell is a very good and capable computer

4

Dell is a very good and capable computer. It has very few problems and is easy to use. It was custom designed on the Dell website with all the features I selected. I was able to select the amount of RAM I wanted, the color I wanted, the size of the harddrive i needed, the CD/DVD player/writer, the type processor I wanted and I even got a floppy drive so I could use some of my old storage discs. It has It had 4 USB ports on the front and 4 more on the back. It also had a printer port for my old existing printer. It was easy to hookup and test with my existing printer, scanner and external hard drive I use for backup. All my existng equipment and sotware was compatible with the new Dell computer. It was shipeed with the software I selected and arrived as scheduled. The customer servcie department checked back with me to make sure I received what I ordered and was satisfied with the product. I would recommend Dell to anyone looking for a good computer at competitve prices.

OK for the price

I have had the Dell Vostro 200 with Windows Vista for almost 3 years now. It always seemed kind of slow (attribued to Vista OS) but within the last year or so the speed has gotten incredibly slow; the hard drive is just about full. Guess it has run its course in the average life of a computer. I would buy a Dell again. I do like the extra USB, & headphone/mic ports on the front of the tower. One thing I dont like is the disk drive is verticle so if you have a disk that is smaller than the standard, you have to lay the tower down or just not use that disk. Also, didn't realize when purchased that it didnt have a burner so I bought an external one. For the most part it has been a decent, reliable computer.

Favorite Computer

I was looking to buy a new computer because my old Acer laptop was pretty much shot. I went straight to looking to buy a dekstop for my office. I was doing some research on Dell computers to see if it had everything that I would need. I wanted a computer that would be Windows 7 compatable before Win 7 came out. I found the Vostro 200 was perfect for that. I had the selection to add more RAM and was surpirsed that this computer could put up to 4 gigs of RAM onto it. It also had a gaming video card that als came with it. When I got the computer in the mail I was shocked at how small it actually is compared to most dekstops. This computer is slim it can fit on a desk and take up littlerly no desk space. After setting it up I loved how fast this computer runs and also how quiet it runs. It came with a pretty nice slimn keybaord but cheap mouse which was not to much of a big deal. Overall this computer is great if your looking for your everyday computer that is small, quiet, and is affordable.

Very basic system

3

The Dell Vostro 200 is a very basic system that is a good match for your young teenager in my opinion. For a grown up, this may not be the best selection. With that said, it can do web browsing, video streams, video playback, shopping, Microsoft applications, and other basic tasks without any real issues. The Pentium dual core E2160 processor is not lightning quick but handles its business in decent fashion. The one thing I really dislike about the Dell Vostro 200 is that it comes with Microsoft Vista (Home basic no less) and that operating system, in my opinion, was a complete failure. I highly recommend you to install XP 64bit or install Windows 7 64bit over Vista. The Vostro 200 comes with just 2gb of ram, which really should be upped to 4gb if you do any serious applications with your computer. The harddrive space is really poor (only 80gb) and you should pick up an external hd regardless of what you do since 80gb can be wasted in no time. Don't plan on doing any gaming with this rig since the integrated graphics are complete garbage. For what it is though, this Vostro 200 is ok.

so very smooth, great buy

After going through several laptops over the years, I thought it was finally about time to get a desktop. I had heard nothing but great things about Dell, so they were the first name I looked into, then I saw the Vostro 200, fell in love with it's design and great features. For it's price when it first came out, it was a little much, but I've noticed it has lowered which is great, that way it's more affordable for everyone. After a quick setup, driver installs, there was no stopping me. The computer was running so smoothly, until at one point, the screen went blue and the desktop restarted completely on it's own.Long story short, Dell support team was there to guide me and let me know that I just selected the wrong drivers off the CD that came along with the desktop. I only share this because of how fast and helpful the customer service was, and even though that doesn't have much to do with the desktop, it really shows you that Dell really takes care of their customers. If you're looking for a great desktop that runs smooth with absolutely no problems, the Dell Vostro 200 is it!!

Very quick

5

The reason I chose to buy this desktop is because I had previously purchased a laptop from dell and I am a big fan of dell and their customer service. This desktop was a fair priced model at the time, however when I bought this a couple of years ago, this computer was considered fast, but now with all the new models out there, this computer just seems to be rather slow, but this computer will do all the necessary functions that the average person would need, but for a business (which is what I used it for first), and for gaming, you might want to get a different and newer style. When you buy something from Dell, you are definately going to get the kind of customer satisfaction that will keep you coming back. Overall, I would suggest this desktop to most people because it will do what you would expect it to do. There are cheaper desktops out there, but you never know the kind of service you are going to get.  I will be forever a loyal customer.

Awesome Desktop

5

I bought the Vostro 200 directly from Dell.com and it's been great. Easy to order and it gets shipped to your home. I got it for a great price, just what I needed for a personal computer. It has performed very well, the speed is way better than my previous HP computer I bought from costco. Came with a nice 19 inch LCD monitor. I would recommend this to anyone with a budget of under 600 shipped. Everything is very smooth and the quality is very good. One of the cons is that over time, the cd player and cdr writer has died and stopped working. It will play but makes loud noises and overall difficuilt. Since then I have purchased an external cd that connects via usb cable. Other than that everything else is simple. It has usb ports in the front which makes things easier if you use a mp3 player and other accessories with firewire. It has some usb ports in the back of the computer as well. The unit is very thin compared to other computers I have owned in the past. It's a great slim and sleek design.
