Not economical -- ink cost and usage are outlandish

1

This printer absolutely drinks ink. It seemed great at first -- nice, quick, crisp copies. But it seems like every time I turn around, one or both of the ink tanks needs replacing. Not only that - but they are outlandishly expensive, even compared to other printers' ink refills. This printer is just not worth the cost incurred by continually replacing the ink tanks.

If you don't do alot of Printing get it.

I have gone through 2 of these printers. The one I have still hiccups. But a good bang for the buck. I do hope to upgrade. I print more than the average person. I love how it scans and how quick you can get around the programs. Also, the software is awesome. If I spent a little more and upgraded, I probably will be more positive about it. I print alot of letters, my wife prints the letters on her Epson and I will print the envelopes.

This Dell printer /copier/ scanner is the best one I have ever  owned and it uses a little more ink then others I have owned but the out come of the pictures I print off its worth the extra ink. I love the choices it gives you and it scans fast and prints fast.. It keeps a good handle on showing you how much ink you have left. good feature.

Not very good.

The experience I've had with Dell All in One printer had not been good. I had to return it 3 time for the same problem, It uses a lot of ink which is very expensive.  The scanning is very poor.  Dell does give good service and I love my Dell computer, but I will never buy another All in One Printer from them it's just now worth the problem

Basic printer

3

Let me just say that I wouldn't buy this printer. "Fortunately" I got this printer for free when I bought my laptop. As a printer, it does the basic things you would expect it to do: copy, print, scan. The printer software doesn't offer very many functions besides the usual. Although it does its job, there are downsides to this product. First of all, the paper tends to get stuck in the feeder even though there are no issues with the paper. It does this every once in a while. Secondly, if you buy this printer you might run into it making the test page all the time. When I first used it, the ink ran out quickly. It then asked if it could make a test page, and when I said ok I got an error message. The message said the test was unsuccessful basically because there was no ink (color or black, I forgot which one). This means that if you cannot buy a cartridge soon, the printer will automatically try to print a test page on each and every startup. There is no option to make it stop doing that without hitting the cancel button each and every time. I eventually did purchase the cartirdge and after that I let it print its test page, and only then did it stop trying to print the test page. I see that a test page is necessary, but I think there should be an option for it to remind you in a week or something.

Not too bad,does the Job

I recieved this dell photo 926 printer with my computer when I bought it. For the most part I like it. It came with a scanner, printer, copier and fax. I have not used the fax on it,so I don't know how it works. The scanner is great for scanning quick pictures to the computer. I use the scanner and it always comes out real nice looking and clear. The copier works not bad for small documents but if you print something from a book or something larger it kinda cuts it off. It prints our well and clear and does a good job. I do find though it does like other have said use a lot of ink. The color ink ones goes real quick and does not last long at all. The black one last a little longer if your just printing out regular emails or word documents. I sometimes find that as soon as I put the ink in it always pops up on the screen that ink is low. It sometimes has trouble connecting from the computer to the printer and will not send your stuff to it,but other then that,I don't print much so it works fine for me.

THE WORSE PRINTER EVER!

2

I have had this printer for about 2-3 years and i already have experieced problems with it. The only good things about this printer is that it can print pictures, has a scanner, and prints well. On the other hand i really think this thing is posessed! One minute it works fine, then when it runs out of ink it starts to go all malfunction on us. Also the ink is an issue, first off the ink is not cheap at all, we have to buy ink almost twice a month from barely printing. Second in like the 3rd  month of owning it , it starts to have a mind of its own, and wants to act all crazy. I must say that i absolutely hate this printer! and if i were to recomend it , i would recomend it to someone that is an idoit and knows nothing about printers. The only reason why we kept it , is because it came with the computer. Also, when reporting the millions of errors to the company, they have no ideas of fixing it. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!

Too much machine for a home printer.

My father bought my husband and I a Dell Photo 926 All-in-One Printer when my last printer died.  He ordered it online straight from the Dell site and had it shipped to my house.  My husband and I were quite dismayed when it arrived.  It was HUGE, HEAVY, and super BULKY!  It takes up so much space that it looked funny at my small desk.  It was easy to set up the software and get it connected to my computer.   There were minimal cords and the software guides you through the set up.  The scanner worked fine for the first two years and then it went out.  The copier went out shortly after that.  I was only able to use the fax a few times and then it just stopped working right with my computer.  I have several digital cameras and like to take and print my pictures myself.  I was upset to find out that the ink is super prone to smearing with any sign of dampness.  The colors will smear and bleed onto other paper and the picture wil lbe ruined. This printer also went through ink like crazy!   I have to say out of all the printers I have had in the past, this soooo not my favorite.  I will never buy another Dell Printer again.

The Dell Photo 926 printer was a terrible choice.

After having this printer for a relatively short time, I have found that it is no longer reliable. Sometimes, it prints fine and other times it prints out a big black splotch which wastes plenty of expensive ink/toner and is useless to me. After trying all the troubleshooting in the manual to no avail, I called Dell and was told to just buy a new printer that uses ink/toner that is even more expensive. All I wanted was a reliable printer that was worth what I paid for it. This wasn't it. I wouldn't suggest that anyone buy this printer. If you want a reliable printer, buy any printer but this. All I wanted was the ability to print out a few recipes, a few craft patterns and my husband's fiction. Is that too much to ask? Apparently it is too much to ask of this printer.

GREAT PRINTER FOR ALL AROUND JOBS CHEAP!

Dell has many easy to use family friendly printers. I chose the Photo 926 and have had it for a couple of years. It was really inexpensive so I figured it wouldn't last long but I was pleasinglyy surprised. It is still printing like the day it arrived.  It is an extremely easy printer so I have not had a lot of issues that had to go to tech support either.      When printing the usual stuff like letters, fliers and other items both in color and black and white it is straight forward...load the paper and off it goes. The fun comes in when you do photos. You can use the scan option, the memory card slot in the front or a program on your personal computer like Kodiak Easy Share. Either way it is simple to grab a bit of photo paper and go. It doesn't take a lot of tweaking. I am always amazed at the quality of prints I get from such a simple machine. Easy on ink overall. I have had ink hogs in the past and this is ok . I think anyone would like the Dell  Photo 926.
