only good for the most basic printing

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

If you are only printing black and white text for basic home needs, then you could probably get by with this printer. More advanced printing jobs need a more advanced printer. I have only had problems with paper jams on a few occasions although it seems to be a big problem for other users. Occasionally when I try to print something, my computer (also a dell) says the printer is not connected or not powered on although it is. As with all dell printers, you can only get ink for it by ordering it through dell. Their ink is very expensive to start with and then I would wind up paying 29.99% interest on it using their dell card. You would be much better of to get a different brand computer so that you could get cheap ink for it and could also run get it from your local store anytime, instead of waiting for dell to ship it to you.

Avoid this printer at all costs it is junk!!

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

This printer is absolutly the worst on the market. It broke down on me after about a year and a half. I called tech support and was told that it is repairable but it would cost more than I paid for it.

While it was working it did print good reports and printed good pictures (if you used the right paper for pictures). It did an acceptable job of copying documents. The printing and copy results were clear. This was the only good thing about the printer.

Changing the ink cartridges was easy and not messy.

Aside from that it was cheaply made, was not very durable, and had a very short operating life.

Great for the first few years, then suddenly goes crazy on you.

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

We received this model printer as a gift from grandparents during college. It worked great then and for the next few years. In recent times, however, the paper feeder developed a major problem in that it could barely take in a single sheet of paper with jamming itself, let alone several sheets in a row. You had to feed it in yourself, and then sometimes you had to do it more than once to get it right. This was bad enough, but then after changing out cartridges, it stated there was a cartridge jam, even though it worked fine the first few times after changing cartridges. We took out the cartridges and checked them constantly, but they were fine. Then suddenly, the device that moves the ink he...

The printer that i have reviewed was the Dell 926 which is the 1

The Dell 942

This printer is one of the nicest printers i have seen in a while. It has all  all different types of things that printers can do and can,t do. The most thing that brought me to it,s attention was the price and the all in one thing s that comes with it. The one thing that took me by surprise that i don,t like is it is funny looking and light weight (breakable looking). I most enjoyed what it can do print, fax, scan take colorful pictures, and internet compactable. I always wanted something like that printer as i like to say i,m a go getter and the price was definately one to see 199.99 before the taxes. Like i said it,s really not that bad of a printer, but the likable things about the printer will make you forget about the weight problem and futuristic looking object. Anyway i,m done talking the talk and still thinks that,s the one like i said earlier. signing off your buddy clean cut : )

Don't spend your money on the Dell 942 Printer

Overall
Rated 2 out of 5

I've had the Dell 942 All-In-One printer for a few years and I used it primarily to print homework and essays when I was a student. I admit, I never really used it to scan or print photos. As I said, I've used this printer for a while but hadn't for a few months. A few weeks ago, I pulled out the printer to print something and even though there was ink and paper, nothing would print. Another annoying thing about this Dell printer is that it prompts you to purchase ink from Dell, which turns out to be extremely expensive. This printer does let you know the ink levels every time you print, which is an advantage. However, that is canceled out if you don't buy ink from Dell because then the prin...

Perfect printer for dummies!!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I am probably the most electronics challenged person on the planet! I am a electronics dummie! I am so bad I even  had problems operating a simple electric can opener.  So when my children all chopped in to purchase me a computer I thought they had totally lost their minds. But with patience and alot of mess ups, I conquered the computer. Then on my birthday, they decided to buy me a Dell Personal All-In One Printer A920. Oh boy, I thought, another confusing electronic. I read the owner's manual, which was very easy to understand. To my astonishment the printer was really easy to operate.I just put the paper into the slot, click "print" and I got beautiful printed copies. I was als...

My roommate bought the Dell 942 Photo All-In-One Printer for us to use for college.  It has made things pretty easy to handle.  My roommate and I have no time to go get pictures developed, or papers copied somewhere else with our busy schedules (I sure do have to time writing this review).  It has been reliable and also relevant to my llfe...and also my roommate's.

Excellent for multiple tasks.

This printer is alright. It is capable of scanning, copying, etc. When you need these features it is a good printer. It does have some issues. Many of the issues are related to the ink. When you replace your ink (with expensive Dell ink) the printer continuosly gives you a low ink warning. Besides, you have to order the ink from Dell and it's very expensive. Even doing that, the printer still tells you the ink is low. If you want don't mind spending a bundle on ink, and looking at low ink warnings all the time, then this is the printer for you.

This Dell All-in-One 942 InkJet Printer SUCKS

Overall

This is a TERRIBLE printer!!!  You have to "baby feed" each and every PAGE or Envelope - and believe me - with 150 Christmas Card ENVELOPES - this IS NOT FUN!!  Also - - the color and black cartridges last for like - 2 MINUTES!!

The best printer is a Dell All-In-One printer.

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Since the day DELL sent me this printer, I've loved it. It was easy to assemble a couple of wires and start it up. It prints (with many different settings), scans, faxes and copies the way a printer is supposed to. The price is very competitive and I really love the dependability of my printer, which has outlasted my first computer, and is working like a charm for my second Dell, that's about 6 years of lots of usage everyday. You really can't get a better deal.

Oh-my-gosh!  This printer is extremely aggrivating. Like the first reviewer, I too have had the same paper problems, but mine started from the beginning. Also the carrier get stuck a lot and is so messed-up now, it won't print at all and I've only had this printer for about a year and a half.

The ink is VERY expensive up until yesterday (found out I can get it at Staples), I had to order the ink on Dell's online site.

However, it DOES print out photos w/ good quality.
