Dell Optiplex 745 the best performing PC in its kind

By

from San Jose, CA

Comments about Dell OptiPlex 745 desktop computer:

I have had this system for 2 years now, and I just cant get this system to give up on the performance testing I do on it. I have been upgrading it here and there and it has room for any upgrades in the technology it caries inside. The only things I needed to upgrade in this past 2 years were the RAM or memory for the system itself and the graphics card. And that is because I watch lots of Blu-ray movies on this system and play 3D contents recently. Very compact design but still big enough to fit all the ingredients out there. Its important to mention that it's a very quiet system even though it has a CPU fan as big as its power supply fan. Some people are picky about the lights in front of their tower case and this one has been designed well enough not to wake you up even if you have the case right in front of your face while sleeping. For pros, this system has room for adding 2 more fans if you want to put very high performance parts inside of it. And also for people concerned about recovery and things like that, it comes with the CDs needed to recover the system from scratch. You can also request Windows 7 Home Edition to have on it instead of XP. Recommended!

Good machine for the price

By

from South Jordan, UT

Comments about Dell OptiPlex 745 desktop computer:

I have used this machine for some time now and I have found it to be a good machine. I would highly recommend the getting the warranty service on the machine though, not becuase the machine is prone to failure but every machine, and electronic item, can fail and the warranty service from Dell is both easy and fast. Just in case there is some kind of hardware failure on the machine Dell is always good about sending out the replacement part quickly and without alot of complication. The machine itself is great for home computing and for standard internet browsing and homework and such, it isnt the most powerful machine out there so it definatly wouldnt be what you would be looking for if you were in the market for a gaming machine, but for standard home computing the machine is excellent. I really like how Dell puts thier machines together and the ease of repair and replacement in them. the way they are built eliminates the need for a screwdriver to get the machine open or to replace any parts which is nice. Overall I would say that it is a good machine.

I just love my Dells!

By

from Monrovia, CA

Comments about Dell OptiPlex 745 desktop computer:

Purchased my Dell Optiplex 745 Small Form Factor three years ago brand new.  In the time since the computer has had only two issues, one involved the fact that one of the PCI cards had somehow come loose, only had to push it down to fix it, and the other was the same thing with a memory card somehow popping loose...only had to reseat them back and all was well.

A couple months ago I was hit by the KoobFace (facebook) virus and used that as a personal excuse to upgrade my operating system from Win XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro...

My Dell has an Intel Core2 Duo "Conroe" processor that is very fast and even faster now that I have upgraded to Win7!  She's been very reliable!  My only problem has been caused by a mix of the computer design and the place in my desk armoire where she sits.  Becaouse the shelf it a bos the heat used to build up...so I added a fan to the box that draws the heat and blows it out the back of the desk into the room...that helped some...but the real trick was when I finally took off the top of the case so that more heat could rise out...now she is running fine and no longer crashes when the space she's in get too hot.

Overall she's a keeper and while I might have replaced her in another year, I think she'll be good for sometime longer...so maybe she'll serve me well until Windows "Next" comes out.
