Nice mini form Factor Desk Top

4

I have one and love it, having used over 150 desk tops and floor models I really enjoy yhr fact I don't have to lift it up put it on my repair desk to fix the dum thing...hehe I haven't had to crack the case to add ram and abetter low profile video card. Speed of 3.5 GHz runs all of my things I need like Linux software packages. And office products run great. This would not be a great for gamers but for thosee who want to work and not a play machine this is a good choice.

The Dell OptiPlex is a very usable machine

4

The Dell OptiPlex 380 is a very usable machine, as with most of their products.  If you are looking for casual computing (not much in terms of gaming) then this machine should fit you. The real bonus to ordering a Dell machine is the customer service that comes along with it.  I have yet to find a company with better service than Dell.  An added bonus is if you seem competent in computers, Dell will sometimes ship you a replacement part and allow you to install it in your own machine.  This keeps from having to packing up your machine and hope that it doesn't get damaged in the process. So if you decide to go with a computer, I feel you should choose a Dell for the above reasons.  If you are not big into gaming, then the OptiPlex just might be a computer for you to try out.  We have similar looking models at our university, and they always seem to perform as needed.  No slow downs and no hiccups have been noticed by me.

Dell OptiPlex 380 Desktop is okay for work

3

The Dell OptiPlex 380 Desktop is used in many work areas at my university, and I can say it is a decent product. I own two Dell PCs, and three Dell laptops, so I am a standard buyer and user. I worked with many Dell PC's in the past, and the only complaint I would have is if it was outdated.  What I mean by outdated is the memory is low, and the graphics are old. However, these things can always be replaced with newer parts, which is what makes this line of desktops so popular among workplaces. They are easy to use, easy to setup, and user friendly for all types of people. Even people who do not use computers on a daily basis, should be able to pick up this computer and learn quite quickly. I am confident to say that I would recommend this computer. A Quick tip for people with tech. trouble: Google is your friend, and all your answers can be usually solved if you ever have problems with this computer or any computer.

Excellent Usage!

3

When I purchased the Dell Optiplex 380 desktop computer for my home office, I was looking for a computer that was fast and could handle all of the different tasks involved in my everyday work. This computer certainly was able to handle any type of job I threw at it. Word processing, spread sheets and other basic chores were a snap. The computer started up quickly and I have never had a problem with it "freezing up" like has happened with some of the other computers I've owned over the years. The computer is small enough that it does not take up much space on my desk. It works seemlessly with my all in one printer and the monitor provides a large and very sharp display. When it comes to handling audio, the Optiplex 380 is a very capable performer. You can download music and play it through your high quality speakers as you work on a project. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this computer. If I had any complaints, it would be the rather long waiting time you will experience when you call Dell with a question. Otherwise, this computer and computer company is excellent.

I'd Drive away from a Dell~

1

I bought this Dell Desktop for my daughter to use for her homework. I was wrongly thinking that I was going to be getting a quality product for price that I paid. It was good enough to start though and she was able to use it for about a year. After around a year however it slowly but surely began it's downhill spiral. There were days when she couldn't connect to the internet at all. Other days it wouldn't shut down and we'd have to manually turn it off. It began to take on a life of it's own with glitches and issues connecting to the internet. I didn't purchase the support plan because I am fairly knowledgeable about computers however I suggest that if you're going to be purchasing this computer that you invest in their support so that you don't end up in my shoes. This is one of 3 Dell computers that I've purchased and as of this review they have all ended up as "E Waste". I would not suggest a Dell brand to anyone.

Flakey

3

My company uses dell. Every employee get a dell. I work in the lab, and we have a bunch of dell for testing as well. From what I noticed, they are cheap barebone product. You can barely surf the web and use basic application like outlook. When it come to something a bit more advance such as video, thing start to slow down. Ofcourse it does not have enough power to play any advance graphic games. These machine are flakey, sometimes random hardware intermittently fail. When the machine go to sleep, it's not possible to wake it up(restore windows). most of the time, waking up the dell require shut down of the PC. The good thing is that these hardware easily have identical parts when order together at the same time. with identical parts, it's easier to maintain in a lab environment. For instance, using symantec ghost is easier when hardware are identical. For the purpose of office usage these machine will do ok, but don't do anything too demanding or things will slow down big time.

Good computer

I use one of these at work. The Dell Optiplex 380 DT Desktop computer features an E7500 Core 2 Duo (2.93ghz), 4gb of memory, a 250 gb harddrive, and a dvdrw drive. For spreadsheet use, web browsing, reading emails, database work, and scanning images (all things that I do at work), this computer is more than enough. The harddrive space of 250gb is pretty small, but at the office you're not supposed to really have that many files on the desktop or download a lot so this computer is really good for the work place. At the office none of the computers are turned off, meaning that this Dell Optiplex 380 runs 247, every minute of every hour. So far, it has shown no signs of instability or has shown even an ounce of unreliability. I forgot to mention that this OptiPlex 380 comes loaded with Microsoft Office 2010, which, again, really goes well with the work place. The operating system on this is Windows 7, which I cannot really comment on but so far no issues. I recommend this computer if you need a work horse desktop.

Dell Optiplex is a good office machine

Dell Optiplex 380 Desktop is my go to computer for my home office.  I like that when I purchased it I had a choice of the size and shape I needed to fit into my workspace rather than buy a new workspace.    It has easy access serviceability. I can easily open it and perform routine maintenance and cleaning without tools. There are led indicators on the front of the tower that enable quick diagnosis of hardware issues but I have not had any yet.  It has a dual core Intel processor, DDR3 memory, basic graphics and the latest operating system.  The cost is very easy to take at about 300 for the tower. You have the dell support team behind you and they are better than any tech course you could ever take.  This tower is built to grow with you and is very easy and inexpensive to upgrade at any time.  As the central computer in my office it was very easy to set up and network to the other computers in the office group. For ease of use there are none to compare.

Dell Optiplex 380 MT is a great, compactc computer

4

I have a Dell Optiplex 380 MT (Mini-tower) for my desk workstation at my office job.  I have always found Dell computers to be a great computer (and usually a great value as well).  My Dell Optiplex 380 Mini Tower is no different.  I love the mini tower since I can have the entire system (CPU and flat screen monitor) on a stand that still takes up less room then one of the older monitors.  My flat screen monitor is actually larger (just not depth wise) than my tower.  I have been needing a new desktop computer for a while (the one was was too outdated and ran slower than a snail) so when I got my new Dell Optiplex 380 Mini Tower I was pleased with the speed.  I came equipped with Windows 7 Professional (which I am currently in love with) and the entire process is super fast.  I love being about to have multiple windows open at once and it doesn't bog down the system.  Also with it's compact nature I have more desk space, the tower is cleaner (less dusting and air blowing) since it is off the ground and away from particulates.  A great deal.

Great Desktop

4

My first desktop computer had a hard drive that fit 10 GB--I thought I was really upgrading when I got one that fit 150 GB. Imagine my delight in seeing an affordable desktop option with 1 TB!!!! What a great storage capacity. Anyway, on to the computer--it's great. Dells are your workhouse computers--built for the "mainstream" user. I have always personally had good luck with Dells and this one is no exception. The only downsides are really, the bloatware accompanying the computer--but you get that with most store/factory computers. Dell support is notoriously bad. Sometimes I press the option when calling customer service of "purchasing" because I know not only will my call be answered quickly. Still, I keep buying Dell's because, really, I haven't had a lot of trouble with them, and frankly, I have with all the other computer brands in the past. I have really enjoyed this desktop and it's a great value.
