Dell Latitude D610 Laptop Review Summary

Business class notebook computers have always been long on performance, and let’s face it they are not the most stylish of machines. And the Dell Latitude D610 does not stray too far from that formula. Marketed as a business-class, semi-desktop replacement notebook, the Dell Latitude D610 is a mixed blessing for our community of users, with some lauding its powerful performance and reasonable weight, while others, don’t care for the weight of the notebook, and even find it "cheap sounding." Dell outfits the Latitude D610 with a 14.1" TFT active matrix XGA or SXGA display, Intel Pentium M (770, 750, or 740) processor, up to 2GB RAM, wireless LAN, and (4) USB 2.0 ports. Overall our community of reviewers recommends this grey and black business-class notebook. Read what our reviews have to say about the Dell Latitude D610 as well as the Dell Latitude 600.

This laptop from DELL demonstare a good balance between weight and performance.

The weight is resonable for a daily office - home travel with your laptop in your hand. The embeded DVD device and the existence of two mouse replcamentes (Touch pad and a small pin in the middle of the keyboard) eliminate...

When I began working at my current job I was provided with the standard issue Dell Latitude D610 laptop for my business computer. After almost a year and a half, and a great deal of use, it's time to move on to a different laptop.

About the Dell Latitude D610
For the past five years, I have seen nothing...

An absolutely hateful machine that no one should get of their own free will. I just can't fathom that the celebrated Dell would last a week in environment of free competition with normal products - it only survives b/c its substandard laptops are forced onto captive students and employees through question-raising programs.

Mine came at $1,700 w/o a DVD burner (!). Enough said.

The screen is framed by half- to a full-inch margin that is obviously unnecessary, reduces the screen size and increases the bulk. The 4 USB ports are nice, but the two on the side only work now and then. Keyboard could...

i can't say enough regarding this laptop.
i put it through a lot of hours and it still works great.
the only con regarding this; and it may only affect mine; is the mouse acts crazy scrolling across the page at times.
i have had it in to be checked and no one can find a reason for it.
i have noticed that if i push the 'up' 'down' keys i can stop it from strolling.
i now use an external mouse most of the time; but this still happens at times.
that is the only con; other than the base becomes extremely hot; so i elevate the base giving it air flow; but this is a norm with lap tops i have used in the past....

I am not very computer savvy, but I do know what it takes to light up my face.  The Dell Latitude is awesome!  I have the New Windows Vista with a 15.4 in LCD hi-def screen that is the prettiest sight you'll ever see.  My dual core processor never slows down and I can get all my work done twice as fast as my old laptop.  I can watch a movie, surf the net and type a Word document all at the same time and not have to worry about the cimputer freezing or malfunctioning!  I would recommend this laptop to anyone and everyone!

This laptop will fulfill your basic needs.  It has all of the software on it I need for working at home, but it does need upgrading for any kind of gaming in your off-hours.  Sound is pretty good for a laptop - not the quality, the loudness.  It's a bit cheap-sounding, but it gets decent volume for doing presentations to small groups.  The touch pad is awful, and I've had to cover it up with cardboard so I don't keep sending incomplete emails!  The eraser-style mouse isn't the best, but functional.  I've added an optical mouse of my own and it works fine.  I miss having a number keypad,... read full review »

This has been a fantastic laptop for me, which I have now given it to my son who is a US Marine.  He is now using this laptop in Iraq.  I love the wireless capability on board.  When using this laptop, I very rarely hooked a network cable into it to get access.  It is very lighweight, huge screen, and I have not had one ounce of trouble with it.  Parts such as an extra power cord are readily available as well.

simple and easy to use. Tech support is a little below average. The pros are a decent user interface. Very sharp screen. The cons are mostly with the fact that the laptop overheats if you use it more than 2 hours. After a few hours, the computer will just shut down. The cons are a cheap graphics card that is not very good for gaming.

It's a workhorse laptop.  I use it everyday as a replacement for an actual pc.  It's fairly quiet.  It gets hot though.
