Dell Latitude D520 Laptop Review Summary

The lightweight Dell Latitude D520 is a standard aspect-ratio business-ready notebook, following on the heels of the Latitude D510. Our community of portable computer users has mixed feelings about this portable. While one reviewer lauded the slate grey notebook saying: “This is a very reliable computer and worth the money. I don't think I will need to replace it for some time to come, but, when I do, it will be another DELL,” another reviewer complained about laptops “low battery life," malfunctioning CD-Rom, and high weight. Dell outfits the 3.7 pound Latitude D520 with a 14.1” XGA LCD display, Intel Core Duo T2300E processor, up to 2GB DDR2 Dual-channel RAM, 802.11 a/g wireless, and (1) IEEE 1394 port. Overall our community of reviewers (barley) recommends this lightweight business-class laptop computer. DELL Laptop is a great investment.  I bought mine about 3 years ago and it still works like new!  I do quite a bit online and have to deal with dial up internet - I am impressed on how well it does.  I have not had one problem with this laptop.  It is just the right size and weight for me.  Occassionally,...

The Dell latitude d520 laptop is not a bad computer. It has good screen resolution, a sensative touch pad, plenty of usb ports, and a good keyboard.

HOWEVER, there are a few draw backs:

1. The battery life is awful even on the lowest possible power settings and a dim sceen setting (mine lasted about...

this loptop(dell latitude D530) is very nice for me. it provide convenience for my work. I can carry it back to home and continue my work in home. it includes the wireless module so even in outside, if have wifi access, I can still connect back to my office.

the battery can support my work at least 2 hours work even under the wireless access be enabled.

it not so heavy to carry, but of course, it is not so lightly for carry. if I will buy a new loptop in the future, I perfer find one which much lighter than this dell loptop. and even the screen is not as big as this one. from my point of view,...

I absolutely LOVE my laptop.  While I also have a docking station, extra keyboard, and screen to go with it, the laptop just by itself has been phenominal to me!  The docking station allowed me the ability to have the big screen and features of a regular desk computer, but I could still take the laptop anywhere I wanted.  The laptop is perfect in size and I love the non-glare screen.  It's technically a "business" set-up computer (my dad purchased it for a graduation gift), but I would definitely recommend it to anyone for college or work!

I have one of these computers and it worked fine  (for about two days) until it loss it power and then i couldnt even log back into it asked for a password that i wasnt even famliar with. It had a white screen and asked for a admin password. I took it to "the geek squad" they told me i had to pay around $250 for a new upgrade system or something like that. I am not a technical person with computers but i can navigate. I would knew buy a computer off the internet again, lesson learned.

Usability
Keyboard is smooth and easy.
Touch Pad is easy to use.
Screen resolution is great !

Performance
Today, I would recommand at least 2Go Ram (I only have 1Go), because of Microsoft Vista.
As for graphics, I do not use this laptop for entertainment, but mainly at my office.
CPU is Centrino Duo : good performance !

Other
Not so heavy.
Normal size.

Hope this helps !

The Dell Latitude D520 laptop is very useful. It works very well and doesn't give me any problems. It's virtually easy to use.  The bluetooth works great. It makes it easy to tranfer something to my cell phone or visa versa. The built in wireless is also useful so you can take it where ever you go. You don't have to worry about trying to find a jack to pug into.

The Dell Latitude D520 laptop is totally awful. It has barely worked at all since I got it. This is my second Dell laptop, because my school requires me to have one, and I have hated both of them. The motherboard has had to be replaced over and over again. I get the blue screen of death every other month or so. I've had to replace my harddrive numerous times. I've had to replace my keyboard once, and my screen twice. It's ricidulous. I'm lucky I have such a great warrnty or I'd be in trouble! Don't get this laptop or any other Dell laptop.
