dell latitude 2100 ok
The Dell latitude 2100, made for public schools, has a light on the back that stays on, unless you click Fn and f6, or go into the bios, when you start your computer by clicking f2 at the bootup, and disable it there, might not be in the original bios, but at the Dell site theres an update for the bios and gobs of other updates. Has windows 7 starter edition running on it, a limited version of w7.... an annoying background thats hard to change but a search on the internet and you will find several ways to get it off... I prefer a black background... supposedly saves ram, for other tasks.... The 2100 is fast on the internet, hard sometimes to get a wifi connection going... have to mess with it to get it to access a secured connection such as okaying the cisco access, strange! A full size keyboard, 3 slots for usb and a memory card, havent checked yet to see if you can boot up another operating system such as linux on the usb or memory card slots... but will try it, another go into the bios acts to change the boot order so usb boots first, but worth it to see what those linux people are up to... especially the mint os... they are getting it down. as far as ease of access All in all a nice little computer sturdy has a strange rubbery outer shell, comes with a small battery, lasts about 2 hrs...., seems they would have someway to connect to the car lighter since its only an 11.1 volt battery to recharge the battery.. but that gets into sine wave, and modified sine wave and other electronic terms.. that can be mind boggling! Features the intel atom processor, 1 gig of ram, supposedly easy to add ram such as a 2 gig ram since I have read there is only 1 ram slot...but others have said it has 2 so until then a mystery to me.. some come with a touch screen but the one i got as far as I can figure doesnt have that feature... oh well who needs finger prints on the screen anyway... lol....
