This dell inspiron 531s is one of the best computers . that i have had in a long time. Great graphics, the speed is awesome. it handles multitasking with a snap of the finger. The main thing that i don't like about this desk top is that. You can not add to this tower. Like adding another drive to it, like blue ray player.  It has a built in smart drive, You have four usb ports in back of computer and two in front. It can support a home theater system, and has a built in headphone jack in front of computer. Below the usb ports. The tower itself is very slim and weighs about 8 lbs. . The monitor than came with it. Is a 16.5 in. flat screen. Which is awesome. The whole thing takes up less space than the old ones  . You would be just amazed at what this computer can do. There is plenty of room on the hard drive, and just think about the speed it has. I have not had a problem with it yet and i would recommend it to anyone.

We bought the dell inspiron 531 new, not refurbished 2 years ago and took out a pc loan to pay for it. It has constantly gotten blue screen errors from day one and dell has never been able to fix it. We bought the desktop for media purposes, but the minute we insert a dvd into the dvd/cd drive, the pc pops up blue screen errors and shuts down. If we do too many multimedia tasks, more blue screen errors. We even had the dvd drive replaced to no avail. I could have gotten an acer for less than 1/2 of what I paid for the dell and been happier. The dell has never been able to do the dvd editing that I require despite coming with roxio because it has limited capabilities and because of the blue screen errors.   Customer support at dell was frustrating to say the least and the fact that their faulty system means that I have to reinstall the software (windows vista and lose all my info) and they won't take any resposibility for it is negligent to say the least.   As a result we've given this overpriced computer to my FOUR YEAR OLD son to play with since that's all it seems to be good for.

This was a very reasonably priced desktop computer and I've had it for about 3 years now.  I've even paid to have it fixed (virus issues and replacing the DVD drive) three times now. Normally when a computer dies on me I figure that it's not worth the money to fix it.  But I just don't want to give this one up. It's quick, until I get about 18 internet windows open and working on different things, which will tend to slow it down (my husband says I'm an addict but it's NOT a problem!). : )  And it will load multiple pages with no issues. It works with all of the new games that we put on it and even a bunch of older ones that we've picked up.  Even games that will freeze up or other newer computer. We gave that one to the kids. : ) I have approximately a million photos and games and files in the memory and it never seems to fill up.  3 years worth of stuff and there's still more room!  I will definitely be getting another Dell when I finally have to give this one up.

I purchased the Dell Inspirion 531 desk top for Wal-mart. I have only had it for 1 year and I have had to replace the hard drive 3 times. Yes I have a firewall, spyware, and an anti-virus on my computer. The tech that came out informed me that this model has been having alot of problems with the unit being sent out with bad hard drives. I am just thankful that I purchased the extended warranty.

The dell inspiron 531 is a great computer. I have had no problems out of it and it is a really fast computer. I used to have an HP computer and it had a graphics card installed and everything and I did not like it near as much as this computer. I have World of Warcraft installed on this computer and that game is at least 16 gb. I run the game even faster than it did on the Hp with a video card and everything. I love this computer and it is a great starter computer or even someone who is a daily computer user. This computer has the best quality for the cheap price. I have had no trouble with this computer and I don't think I could switch to a new one. I will probably just upgrade some of the things on it but I will never give it up. This computer is great for anyone and I recommend it to any new or veteran user. If you want to have quality for a cheap price then this computer is the way to go.

My dell inspiron desktop computer is absolutely wonderful and is a life saver at my home. I have had 2 other computers before this one, 1 of them was a gateway and the other was a no name but my dell is perfect. I upgraded my computer when I had my first son and now he is 18 years old. The computer serves serveral purposes at my home. My whole family can get on and check their email accounts and email friends. The main reason for the computer is to maintain my banking accounts and to pay bills without having to leave the house or write a check. I have begun to research alot of information on going back to school and my children can use the computer to help with school work and projects. My dell does not take up much room and has the option of a flat screen monitor and the monitor can be purchased any size. My oldest son now has set up a account for xbox live has has the option of playing  xbox live on the computer against people all around the world without leaving the house.

When I first purchased my Inspiron 531 I thought I made a mistake due to so many people telling me that it was  a weak computer that couldn't do what I wanted it to do. I've been surprised with how good the computer has been for me. I can work with pictures on several downloaded programs and with reasonable speed. My computer skills are limited but the Inspiron 531 was a good choice. I'd recommend this computer for anyone who needs to work with pictures, use email services, and search the web.  The only problems I've had was with the installed drive that doesn't always work. I do like the fact that the computer has 4 USB ports. The preloaded VISTA Home is adequate for most operations. My kids are always using the Inspiron for watching videos and movies. The Windows Photogallery is quite basic but does allow for some cataloguing and in files and some photo improvement tasks such as color, tint, cropping, and contrast. It is nearly impossible to improvea poorly focused picturee.

When I decided to purchase a new computer a few years ago, I wasn't sure what i was looking for.  I wanted a desktop that I would only be using for personal use.  I also like to play games on the computer so i was looking for a system that could handle the memory of the games i enjoy playing. So here I am 2 years later with a Dell Inspriron 531S that i have been very satisfied with.  I don't feel overwhelmed with the software that was provided.  I find it to be a good purchase all around.  I did purchase this from the Dell website and found they provided me with enough information for me to make this purchase.   I like how the computer programs are arranged I find it very easy to locate things that I am looking for.  The size of the desktop is perfect it doesn't take up very much room so it's easy to find a place for it.  I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a personal computer who is looking to start out slow and basic.

There are days I love my dell inspiron PC and days I'm definitely ready to trade it in. When it works, it's perfect for me, but when it doesn't it is very frustrating. I would have to say that it has been disappointing how often my family members have trouble with our dell. It many times operates too slowly. Then there is the ongoing problem of it crashing down which no dell technician has been able to correct. I spent one Sunday afternoon on with the dell tech crew for five hours straight and they still could not solve the problem. I spent quite alot of extra money for top line tech support for my dell and I don't feel that the computer is worth it. There still seem to be alot of "bugs" in this particular dell product; but I do try to be patient and realize that all this new technology does have its pros and cons. I spent a fairly low amount for my dell; so I guess in reviewing fairly I would have to say that,  "I got what I paid for."
