A decent computer

3

I owned the Dell Inspiron 1564 prior to my current laptop. I found the laptop to be light weight and easily used for mobility. It was easy to carry around when needed. I felt the layout of the keyboard was convenient and it was one of the most comfortable keyboards I used. It was slow at times, but overall I thought this was a good product. Unfortunately, the product did not last long maybe 18 months or so I can't really remember. The screen size for this laptop was just right as it wasn't too big or too small. I have had both with laptops and it can cause eye strain when having extended use. The price was reasonable for my purchase. Ease of Use This laptop was easy to use and one of my favorites. Battery Life I have found most laptops to have average battery life. Support & Service While in warranty, I would say support met expectations. Speed/Performance The speed was good. It was slow at times, but pretty average. Design The design met my expectations. Durability It was easy to carry around as needed.

Really a bad laptop

1

This is the worst lappy I have ever bought. In first year of warranty, it used to never get on in the morning daily. I have to take out it's battery every time and put it on for 40 sec. Then turn it on. This has been advised by dell service centre. When I got bugged doing it daily they told me to update it's software. I updated that. Now it's just one year with this lappy. And it's become very very slow. Hangs up daily several times. I really feel that Steve jobs says right about Dell that they produce boxes not laptops. My husband has got MacBook pro. It never hangs up or become slow. I seriously advise u not to go for this laptop rather save money and go for MacBook. I repent deeply by buying this.

Touch pad is fussy; speed is sometimes slow

2

This laptop had everything that I wanted according to the specs, but I have been less than pleased since taking it home and using it.  My most frequent issue is with the touch pad.  It sometimes gets "stuck" and doesn't move the cursor as quickly as I'd like it to.  I have messed with the mouse settings, but it still has the same problems.  I have also had some issues with performance speed.  There have been times that I have waited much longer than normal for programs to work and pages to load.  Neither of these issues are consistent, so I haven't taken it in to have it checked, but I might do that in the next couple of weeks if these issues persist.  Something that is consistent (and unavoidable) is the 64-bit incompatibility with certain programs.  I wouldn't mind this so much if my computer was noticeably faster, but, with the issues listed above, the inability to install certain programs just adds to my frustration. My advice: shop around and try different models before purchasing.  I wish I had.

My Dell Inspiron 1564 is the fastest, brightest laptop of all

The graphics on this laptop are the greatest, plus Window 7 is excellent.  I cannot believe the speed and accuracy of this electronic wizard.  The Cam is sharp, bright and the picture quality is just like real life. I am so glad I chose Dell.

It's fast & I'm happy!!

I just got my new Dell Inspiron 1564 a week ago, and I definitely feel like I'm being pampered by the speed!!  I can do more than one thing at a time without it locking up, which is what my old laptop was doing.  I also love that it has Windows 7 on it, which is very user friendly and nothing even close to Vista.  Thanks goodness!  I really like that the keyboard now includes the number key pad, since my older Dell did not have this.  I am the treasurer of my church, so this was a VERY important perk.  I used to have to use the USB plug-in number pad, but now I don't need to lug around one more thing.  The only negative about this is that I think they kind of squeezed the rest of the letter keys on there.  I'm not sure about this, but I think the regular keys may be a fraction smaller, so my fingers sometimes get off on the wrong keys.  But, all in all, the number key pad is definitely a positive for me.  The only other negative is that ALL of the plugs and USB ports are on the sides.  I really prefer them to be in the back so that I don't have all these cords in my way, but I guess that all depends on your personal preference.  As a whole, I love this laptop!
