This laptop was a family gift from our father-in-law. It came with Windows 8 and I am still learning how to operate it. It looks little weird because it shows all icons when I start a machine. I am so impressed with the speed of start up and shutting down. It is the fastest I've every seen. I have been using HP laptops at work, but it takes 100 times longer to start up and shutting down. This machine is almost instant. I am so happy with that. It also comes with Skype already. I have not used Skype yet, but can not wait till I try with my family and friends with webcam. We already tried webcam and it looks very clear. We installed Microsoft Windows and my high school age daughter has been using it almost everyday to do her homework. it's light enough to carry around in our house. We like a mouse, so added a mouse with USB wireless. It works great. It is a great laptop. Ease of Use It takes time to get to know Windows 8 though. Battery Life It holds up for hours. Support & Service I have not used it yet. Speed/Performance It's very fast especially start up and shutting up. Durability I bought a pouch to store.

**I just recently purchased the Dell Inspiron 5000 its a laptop from 1999 so i was expecting it to be a total dinosaur computer. Its really not it has most of the capabilities some of the newer laptops have, pretty sleek design for being 11 years old, only a 600mhz processor but you would never know it. Internet runs awesome, screen is still in great condition, just in general a really nice laptop. Saying that  im not just talking about for its age I mean just awesome!! I would totally recommend the Dell Inspiron 5000 any day to anyone! Out of a 5 star rating honestly I believe it deserves a 4 maybe a 4.5 and that is competing against the newer Dell laptops I own! Some of the specs are 600Mhz processor upgradable to 1Ghz, 386 mb of ram upgradable to 512mb, right now mine has a 6gb hard drive but that can always be upgraded as far as you wish. The only flaw is that a processor upgrade is hard to find.**
