Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 Netbook Review

4

This is a budget netbook from Dell that was released around August 2010. It comes with an Intel Atom N455 CPU (1.66 ghz) and 1 GB DDR3 memory which makes it a small upgrade over some similarly priced budget-netbooks. You can get it with 160 GB hard drive and 3-cell battery or 250 GB and 6-cell battery version. My review is based on the latter. The netbook is light enough to carry around with ease, and with the 6-cell battery it lasts over 3 hours without recharging - which isn't bad considering it's real-time usage. The speed is more than decent enough to run most browser-based and document applications, with the exception of resource-hogging Facebook games (which is to be expected, as you'll need a regular laptop for those). The design is basic, but functional. The black smooth cover is nice but be sure to get a skin to prevent small scratches. Keyboard is fairly easy to type on. There are 2 USB ports which may or may not be enough for your needs. 160 GB / 250 GB is plenty enough for most users. Overall, a good netbook, but try to get it on sale for around 280 for the 250 GB and 6-cell version.

Dell Mini Netbook

I don't really like my netbook because I had many problems with mine.  It does not have enough memory, which is why it ran so slow.  The battery life was terrible!  It would barely run an hour on its own, and when you were listening to any audio it would run out even faster. There is no place to put in CD's or DVD's either.  It is a hassel when you try to upload music onto it because you cannot download any music from CDs.  I had to download it from the internet which was a long and slow process.  My netbook also got a TON of viruses.  I had to take it in to get worked on many times and it continued to get viruses.  Actually, i can not use my netbook at the moment due to the viruses. It won't even turn on.  Although there are many bad things, I liked the size, it was very light weight and easy to travel with.  The webcam was a plus.  The netbook is easy to set up and get connected to wi-fi.
