Dell Inspiron E1505 PC Notebook —

To the Point

My computer is a Dell Inspiron E1505 which I’ve had for about nine months. It cost under $1,000 and can be built at www.dell.com. It's a bit heavier than ideal but not so much that it doesn't come with me everywhere.

About the E1505:

Memory and hard drive:

This machine’s hard drive is a 40GB Serial ATA, 5400 RPM. These numbers not only affect the storage capacity but the rotational speed of the drive. This is a fast machine.

What it looks like:

The E1505 is a beautiful machine. The lid and bottom of the notebook are silver which is the magnesium alloy construction which is supposed to add protection.

It is about 14 inches wide by 10 ½ inches deep by 1 ½ inches high. The screen display is 15.4 inches. This is measured diagonally. It weighs a little more than 6 pounds. The weight will vary depending on how you build it.

Visual and Audio:

I have what is called a TrueLife screen. It’s like getting glossy photos rather than matte photos. The screen is extremely shiny making the pictures on it amazingly clear and bright. The color contrast is excellent and the colors themselves perfect. Watching videos is like watching a high end TV. The clarity is bright and crisp. The sound is amazing and I don’t even have speakers hooked up.

The Processor:

My E1505 has what is called an Intel Core Duo T2050. The processor controls the speed at which the computer runs programs, loads images and downloads files.

Other Information:

My E1505 has 3 USB 2.0 (Universal Serial Bus) ports.

It has a 53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery. This lasts 3 hours.

The operating system is Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

Service:

This machine comes with a one-year warranty. I haven’t needed service but I can tell you from my experience with my old Dell that Dell’s service was wonderful when I needed it.

I just ordered a Dell Dell Inspiron 9400 with the 17 inch screen. I sure hope it is as good as my HP's have been. This will be my first Dell. I am glad to hear customer service is good. I didn't have a good experience with them thus far but maybe once I get the machine and need them, they won't be such jerks. They were quite rude to me but that was really just one girl. The others were TRYING to help, just lost. Anyway, this sounds like a nice machine that will hold up.
