Hello,
In October, I found my Dad's old Dell 8200 sitting on a shelf in the basement while we were cleaning the basement. I was able to make the hard drive operational again. I decided to make this my main computer by upgrading the memory, hard drive, battery, speakers, and mouse. Well, after five months have passed, thousands of man hours invested in work (both mine and paid help), the hard drive crashes. I call Dell's technical support (Who have been a great help in the past) and they tell me that they can't/won't help me or replace the hard drive. They tell me to contact the manufacture and they will replace the hard drive. I call them and work my way through their answering service and finally reach a real person. They tell me that I have two choices, One - I could send the hard drive back after removing all the data off the hard drive, and they would send me a replacement. Two - They could send me a new hard drive, place a $80.00 hold on my bank account which they would remove after they receive the malfunctioning hard drive, so I could transfer the data to the new hard drive.
Long story short, my hard drive is still dead.
